Hullo Paul glad you liked the review, I can assure you that you have a lot of flexibility with the Z5 even on auto, you could actually use the single spout, and probably do a pattern, but you can certainly alter the froth from almost flat to very frothy as we do it all the time, as well as change the heat. Both are altered by merely turning a knob. and its only auto if you want it to be, but it does heat the milk with steam.but the milk is extracted by the machine from a bottle jug or suchlike you do not have to immerse a steam wand into a milk jug. Hope this helps Regards Joe

Good job. I have had a Jura Impressa S90 for 9 years and continue to enjoy the quality of the machine and the product it delivers. However, I am rather partial to the fact that I can manually froth milk on my machine and I cannot find out anywhere if the X5 gives you this possibility. I don't want to purchase the X5 until I know this or alternatively can be assured that the automatic system is just as good or better - except that I guess that patterned milk froth patterns will never be possible with the automatic system
