Ever since I was a child I have dreamed of having my very own planetarium and Segatoys appear to have finally created a device to make that dream a reality: The HomeStar Pro.
The HomeStar Pro is a small spherical device that can project 10,000 stars on your ceiling or wall at home - just like a real planetarium. The unit is portable and the teacher in me thinks the HomeStar Pro would be an ideal teaching aid to learn about our universe.

WINPLUSs range of home automation products appear both easy to use and install, with the only real difficult part being choosing what to automate!
The Ultimate Starter Kit contains five different controllable power outlets as well as a universal remote control that allows you to activate multiple devices at the touch of a button as well as replace all your other remotes.
All WINPLUS starter kits are upgradeable and expandable, allowing you to start small and end with a completely automated home.
Were not sure exactly how easy these kits are to install and use, but if we can get one into the lab for some testing, well be sure to let you know.
For more information see the WINPLUS website or drop in to your local Bunnings hardware store. |

Let me be frank!
Sometimes my faithful servant lets me down... at the

Will Acronis True

Eton's FR1000 is a self-powered hand crank radio that allows you to stay
informed even when all regular means of power are exhausted. Not only
does this unit allow you to tune into AM, FM and weather band
frequencies, but it also has a built in Voicelink for two way
communication, ala walkie-talkie.
The FR1000 also features a flashlight, a beacon light that can function as an SOS signal, and a siren. All of which can be powered by a twist of a crank. Awesome.

As computers have made the transition from the computer room to the living room and beyond, so to have their peripherals and input devices. Nobody wants to have a wired keyboard lying around the living room, nor do they want a large wireless one that takes up the entire coffee table.

One of my cameras is the Olympus E-510, in some countries also known as the EVOLT E-510.
It's a very capable DSLR with some unique features.
We have written about one of its predecessors, the E-300 more than two years ago and I've always been enamoured by the LiveView feature which was quite revolutionary in those days. Normally I am quite happy to read the manual but this time around I also watched a couple of training DVDs from EliteVideo.com.
Was it worth the $50 that they cost?
