Like AFL, Melways is a Melbourne institution. Sure, there are other street directories out there, but there's only one Melways.
And don't think I'm joking - If you get into my car with anything else you'll be navigating on foot! Really.
For those of us who love our Melways but also have a need for gadgets, the Ausway group have finally created the Navway Professional Street Directory.
Did someone say Melways on a touchscreen GPS? - read on for more..

Thecus is renowned for their high quality Network Attached Storage (NAS) boxes and with the release of the N3200 Thecus looks to have outdone itself.
Not only does the N3200 boast high data security and strong performance figures, but with its elegant black finish and blue LCD, this NAS box is quite a looker too.

Well, it certainly looks like one and almost behaves like any real UFO -- except we have identified it.
We are talking about an exciting development at Entecho here in Australia where they are working on the Hoverpod, a manned aerial vehicle that not only can hover but also fly up to 3000 m at speeds up to 120 km an hour.
It is billed as the ultimate recreational vehicle which can negotiate any terrain. It not only promises to be safe (which it better be if everyone's gonna fly it) but also very easy to fly.
Have a look at some of the details here.

One of the more stunning software suites landed on my desk the other day.
It's the Punch! Home Design Architectural Series 4000 and it certainly carried a punch!
Weighing in at 1450 grams (yes, nearly 3 pounds!) with three disks, a heavy manual and an amazing box that pictures the main features of Home Design, you can't do justice to it in a normal review. Be prepared to read also the next instalment...
At just a fraction under $300 Australian (Ive seen it much cheaper and in the US street pricing is under USD100) this software suite represents great value for those people needing to design a new home, plan on renovating their old one or who want to landscape their gardens.
It so happens that I am planning to do all three!
So here are my first impressions of Home Design Architectural Series 4000.

Sleek and svelte. Unobtrusive. Words you would not have used in context with eStarling a year ago. This time around, after some very hard lessons in marketing, the new 8" unbranded eStarling Picture Frame from PF Digital stands proudly on my desk. With digital photo displays proliferating like rabbits in the Australian Outback, what makes this Wi-Fi enabled eStarling stand out?
Marketing in this Internet age can be a tough game at the best of times. Couple that with a product that was a great idea at the time but rather flawed when it exited the Chinese factory, and you have a disaster on your hands that few companies could recover from. To their credit PF Digital have been quick to replace the earlier model with the upgraded one for all who bought one in the past year. Still, some damage to their reputation will inevitably remain until they consistently get it right over some years.
So did they get it right with this one?

How much memory capacity is enough when you are travelling?
As digital cameras capabilities skyrocket in megapixel count and plummet in pricing, this question becomes more pertinent. Luckily HyperDrive seem to have a ripper of a solution for this conundrum with the HyperDrive Colorspace.

The Tomato D-18 Slim HDD drive holds 60GB and does not require any pesky external power supplies. At a mere 8.5mm thick the D-18 goes to show that being thin, is still the best way to get noticed.
No pricing or availability details at the moment but if you can read Korean, shoot on over to Tomato's website for details.
