Read more: A message from the current incumbentHappy New Year everyone!

Firstly, I would like to thank Martin and Arjan for building a solid platform with DigitalReviews.Net (DRN), and keeping me in the DRN family for the last 13 years. I still remember my "job interview" in 2007 - somehow scoring one of the GPS HUD units to review and I had my '06 Saab 93 Aero (the last of the true Saabs before the GM parts bin completely took over.)

Read more: After 15 Years of Publishing DigitalReviews.net Has a New Editor!First up: a Happy New Year from the team here at DigitalReviews!

New beginnings and fresh starts are always exciting and after a decade and a half at the helm of this review site it’s time for me to step down.
It’s no early retirement for me at 72 as I’ll keep on writing and contributing to the website I started as PocketPCReviews and which soon outgrew that pre-smartphone segment.

So we renamed it to DigitalReviews.net (DRN for short) and kept growing. My son Arjan has been the webmaster from the very beginning and every few years redesigned the site to keep it up to date.

It was great to develop relationships with manufacturers and tech companies and their representatives to the point where they often would send us the latest and greatest in their new product range. We’ve had many a scoop review and high rankings in Google Search.

Read more: Seasons Greetings 2019Dear readers,

Another year is almost over and it seems the older we get, the quicker time flies by. From the team at DigitalReviews Network, we would like to wish you and your family a merry and safe holiday season. Cuddle your loved ones and treasure each moment.

In 2019 the team have reviewed things big and small, revisited new generations of old favourites, danced to different tunes and lights and tried to get people to sleep better. For Kevin, he largely managed to see out the tail end of a tumultuous few years in his personal life, with a new approach to the world. Martin, our fearless editor in chief clocks up another year at the helm.

To all our loyal readers, your on-going support is much appreciated and valued. Stay tuned with us as we head into 2020, we have big new and plans for the year.

Merry Christmas from the DRN team and a Happy New Year!

Twitch TV and the Rise of Live Gaming

Read more: Twitch TV and the Rise of Live Gaming

The emergence of Twitch TV has heralded a new step in the evolution of the gaming market, by enabling players to record live gameplay and broadcast this to a network of followers. This is part of a rapid and relentless evolution, which has seen desktop and mobile gaming thrive on innovation and overpower the once dominant console sector.

This trend is unlikely to abate any time soon, as the rigid and costly nature of console gaming continues to fail in the wake of more flexible and immersive mobile experiences. With cross-platform gaming technology also making a more diverse range of titles available on the desktop, video games are continuing to lose their market share.
