Krix Tryptix Speakers

Well how lucky can you be!  With the Astone Media Gear AP-360T creating all the interest on our site, we thought this would be an opportune time to review some audio associated items.  So when we were offered some top line speakers from www.krix.com, we jumped at the chance.

We’ve chosen the Tryptix as they are very versatile and have the ability to suit either a stand or a wall mount installation.  Using dual 100mm bass drivers and a 26mm super audio tweeter, we expect to be able to wow or worry the neighbours with some quality sounds.

The speakers come in high gloss black white or silver and so we are already sure they will fit right in with the decor.  But as to the neighbours’ verdict on quality, you’ll have to wait for the review as we can’t do that until we hook them up to our big “Yammy amp”. Well we did just  that see reviewed!

Petsafe Dog Training Collar - Deluxe Remote Trainer

Have you ever taken your dog somewhere only to be totally embarrassed, when one word from you and the dog does what it wants?  Well I’ve got one of those dogs, but it’s all about to change.  My little dog doesn’t know it yet, but she’s about to undergo some training, and I will be using the highly professional services of Petsafe.

Their consultant and trainer is being flown to me from over east and is called, you guessed it, the Petsafe Dog Training Collar Remote Trainer.  I mean what can my dog say, she is getting the Deluxe model courtesy of www.dogmaster.com.au.

We will see just how effective they are in retraining my little girl not to jump up at guests’ cars to welcome them and also to prevent her barking in the car soon as we leave her for a short period.  I will have to be strong for this as I’m feeling a bit squeemish already.

Maybe I can get the wife to do the training of the little Bichon Frise.

This will be a real test of product on low sensitivity training.  The boys at Dogmaster advise me the training deterrent is scaled with a super low 1, gradually increasing to 10 and even 10 is still a mild tingle only.

Anyhow, stick around for the test, as I’ve been reassured that it won’t hurt her at all, but I tell you, one upset squawk from either of us and we will both be out of there. Footnote: We survived see reviewed.

Swann PRO-620 & PRO-640 Long Range Security Cameras

Home Security Swann PRO-620 & PRO-640 Long Range Security CamerasWe have been fortunate enough to have www.swannsecurity.com.au offer to supply us with not one, but two different professional quality long range cameras to review against normal wide angle general purpose cameras.

By putting all cameras through some rigorous image testing, I hope to show that cameras are not all the same and indicate some of the advantages of using a camera that has been designed for a specific purpose.

I will be hooking the Pro 620 and Pro 640 to the Swann DVR4-Pro Net recorder.  A high quality product that is more than capable of realising the potential of all the cameras to be tested.

It also holds the added advantage that I am already familiar with the recorder’s capabilities and can ensure that the test will not be hampered by my lack of knowledge in setting qualifying parameters.  The test will be to record a simulated intrusion on the property and to be able to read the vehicle’s number plate as they leave.

The review’s aim is to test whether you get what you pay for when buying a camera designed for specific purpose in terms of greater clarity and image definition against that of a general purpose camera. It's done see reviewed.

Well this is going to be very interesting.  One of our reviewers had an excellent in depth look at the Astone Media Gear AP 100 on this site and found that it came up trumps over the opposition in some fields.  So how do you think this “big Daddy” will go?

Achieva Technology Australia found at www.achieva.com.au  has been kind enough to agree to send us Astone’s flagship product.  Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong but as far as I can see this product is 5 jumps up the Astone Media Gear ladder from the last one we reviewed.

So stick around until we get the AP-360T 1080p Media Player with PVR & HDTV Tuner in our grubby little paws.

What a great stack of Comments we had on our first WHAT IS IT?!? Competition!

We had nearly 200 Comments, some very funny, some pretty clever.

In the end it was a simple answer that was the solution: yes, it's an aerial view of a salty pond and it happens to be near Albany, Western Australia.

What a Coincidence - Whatmough Synergy2 Speakers

Written by Paul Moons on . Posted in Industry News

Read more: What a Coincidence - Whatmough Synergy2 SpeakersHaving recently received the Popcorn Hour C-200 for review, I decided it was time to look at replacing my trusty (but wholly outdated) Onkyo 838 receiver. While the Onkyo still sounds fantastic, its inability to decode all but vanilla Dolby Digital is finally becoming a problem.

So it was by pure chance that I stumbled into A1 Audio this afternoon and discovered a set of tiny but very impressive Australian designed speakers.

Varex Muffler from Xforce

Variable sound muffler

Well I don’t care how old or young you are, if you have a nice car then it really has to have a nice note as well.

But if you’re a young bloke or a night owl how do you get home in the wee hours without disturbing the neighbours or even the wife.

Well it seems like the guys from www.xforce.com.au have the answer, they have designed a muffler system that you can vary, hence the name Varex, altered by remote so you can very quietly sneak home. They have been kind enough to agree to send me two for my 700 hp Supercharged AC Cobra lets see how they go at calming “the Beast”.

So stay within earshot and we will look at them in the next week or so!
