Ricoh GXR Digital Camera
With Ricoh taking out the “Compact Camera” of the year using the CX2 digital camera at the Camera Magazine Imaging Awards, we were understandably excited to be getting one for a review. But what really fired us up was to be told that we will also be getting the newly released “State of the Art” revolutionary Ricoh GXR camera. With both of these top quality digital cameras in our hands at the same time, we’ve pretty much got the whole field of photography covered. From compact “point and shoot”, to the latest in innovative technology for the semi professional and professional there is not much more you could want..
We will compare them against each other in a single article with two co-related reviews published at the same time and give reasons in the conclusions, to justify where we believe the award winning Ricoh CX2 application finishes and the high end Ricoh GXR starts.

Silicon Power SDHC Memory Card
You can always count on someone. Here I am stressing because a cheap market chained brand SDHC (Class 6) card fell over 3 times during our review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC - FH1 Camcorder. But lo' and behold Silicon Power via Tasco.com.au came to the rescue.
They aleady know their Class 6 works in the Sanyo ok but they are rushing me their latest and greatest off their assembly line, a 16GB Class 10 SDHC memory card.
We suspect that inferior SDHC cards are causing a lot of problems with all sorts of high demand equipment.
In the Sanyo review we made the bold statement that “Cards just aint cards”.
Will this Memory card deliver for the Sanyo Xacti VPC FH-1 Camcorder?
We shall wait and see!
UPDATE: Review completed 5th Jan 2010. See here.

Promise ZERO prototype
Sometimes getting (a) ZERO isn't too bad... and when it comes from Promise Technology, whose NAS products have been a favourite on our editorial team, this will be a box to look out for.
Particularly if all that NAS and RAID stuff is too finicky to set up for you as the ZERO stands for zero configuration! The picture on the left shows a prototype when it initially was still called SmartStor SNS -- Simple Network Storage.
We'll see if that is really true in a few weeks time.
In the meantime, Promise have just released the NS4600 SR1. That stands for Service Release 1, by the way, which means better performance and lots of new features. We may expand on our NS4600 experiences sometime later as well.

miniHomer GPS
Being the type of person that gets lost all too easily and does more laps of the carpark than I'm willing to admit - the miniHomer Key-Chain GPS Position Finder looks like a valuable contribution to my keyring.
We'll be reviewing this high-tech, reverse navigation system that claims it can navigate you back to a previously marked location in any weather condition - so stay tuned for the full write up.
UPDATE: The miniHomer has arrived at HeadQuarters -- review to follow soon (if we don't get lost doing other things in the meantime...)
See the full review now as published on 23 March 2010.

Jabra Cruiser
With a bit of luck we might have the pleasure of reviewing another bluetooth speakerphone for your listening pleasure...
Indeed, not just for phone conversations but also glorious stereo music via the built-in FM transmitter on the Jabra Cruiser.
Can it do this job where so many other devices have failed?
Stay tuned -- literally -- for this review!

With this product being supplied by corneatech.com.au, not only are we going to review the product but we are going to also interrogate the Managing Director, and produce an in depth Editorial on just how hard it is to set up an online store and break into the internet field.

B&D Rolling Door Opener
Already agreed to supply we have a roller door (roll-a-door) opener coming from www.bnd.com.au but we're not sure yet just which one. Is it to be a review on a new product launch or a review of one of their already well established and proven Diamond series?
We’re not sure but one thing is for certain, we will be fitting, adjusting and evaluating performance ourselves, with all “wo to go” activities and comments relayed to our readers.
Reviewer's newsflash - It's a B&D Controll-A-Door Diamond - Power Drive arriving in the second week of January 2010!
UPDATE: Review has just been published!
