Viewsonic Viewpad 7

ViewSonic has previously announced here some basic information regarding their new ViewPad 7, their answer to Apples iPad, but in a more compact form factor, running the new Android 2.2 FroYo operating system, but today Androidandme have provided the details on the unit, which appears to be a re-branded OlivePad.

Cannon PowerShot SX130 IS

Well it's obviously that time of year, Canon are announcing products left, right & centre.

This time around we're focusing (pun intended) on their compact range of consumer cameras... bit of a tongue twister that one, anyhow the new PowerShot SX130 IS and PowerShot S95 as shown below are targeted towards two different markets, but both are sure to be excellent value for money, and we hope to be able to review both of these new compacts at some point after their September release date.

Cannon's Latest Fisheye Lens

Canon's latest announcements also include their new EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye lens which includes the world first ability to function as both a circular fisheye and full-frame fisheye for their full-frame SLR/DSLR camera range.

Unfortunately you won't be able to get your hands on this baby for at least a few more months, as it's scheduled for January 2011.

Canon 60D

After being officially announced just days ago (26th August 2010) we're now seeing pre-orders appearing on various popular photography websites for canon's newest prosumer SLR camera, the 18 Megapixel Canon EOS 60D.

The press release goes on to mention availability from dealers nationally in September 2010.

"Replacing the popular EOS 50D camera, the EOS 60D sits between the EOS 550D and EOS 7D and is perfect for users stepping up from an entry-level DSLR, as well as for compact users desiring more creative options and higher image quality."

HTC Desire HD

Yes the rumour has been around for a while, but it's finally been outed in video thanks to the guys over at 247android.com (italian) confirmed specs include: 4.3" WVGA Screen, 8 Mpixel Camera, 720P Video Recording,  XviD Playback, and of course Android 2.2 FroYo... this places the Desire HD as HTC's answer to an Evo 4G for GSM/HSDPA Networks.

Slated for an October release.

Good news for Google Android but bad news for Windows as Asus has decided on choosing the Google Android platform instead of Windows.

Asus was reported to have decided on Google Android instead of Windows for its upcoming EP101TC tablet computer.

Helicopter Pilot Training

As we all know helicopter pilot training is easy for organists and circus acrobats who are used to coordinating hands and feet in ways we didn't think possible. In other words: most folks will have trouble during the initial few hours of helicopter pilot training and while practicing emergency maneuvers.
But how to train safely in a simulated but realistic environment?

Enter the not so mad Max Planck Institute guys from the Biological Cybernetics department who partnered with Heli Aviation GmbH to create a safe and effective training platform. The used a heavy industrial six-axis Kuka with a carrying capacity of 500kg to which they attached the cockpit of a Cabri G2 helicopter.

HTC1 Concept

Here is a concept that does resonate with me: a premium HTC device out of machined brass!

Do I hear "steampunk"? Ah, no, it has a silvery finish and looks very smart.

Very durable too which certainly is what thase large smartphones need to be.

There are other great design improvements with this creation by Andrew Kim who has a fabulous presentation here.
