Google Maps 4.1.0
Google Maps for Windows Mobile just got updated to version 4.1.0. This version includes now the capability to perform voice activated searches. Just need to press Talk button and say what you're looking.

But not everything is great... for now, it only recognizes English, including several accents as Australian, Indian, British, etc, and Mandarim. In my personal case, in Portugal, if I ask for "restaurantes" it searches for "chris nolan". But if I say "restaurants", all is well.

In case you're wondering: "Falar agora" means "Speak now".

Donload available on m.google.com/maps, from your device's browser.

Geforce Gtx 480
3D graphics. What is this phenomena all about? James Cameron’s Avatar made record earnings from its seamless integration of 3D technology in the realm of film, but what does this imply for the world of gaming?

Nvidia already seems to know that 3D gaming will be the next revolution in interactive entertainment and they’ve jumped on board full steam with their newest product, the GTX 480 graphics card and its “little brother,” the GTX 470. Technical specs are almost unimportant for this monster, rendering graphics and benchmarks at about double the quality of prior Nvidia chipsets.

Opera Mini on iPhone
Well, not quite... Opera has Opera Mini web browser working on iPhone, and has submitted it to Apple iPhone App Store, on 23rd this month. Only after approval can the users get the browser via the App Store (officially, anyway).

Opera claims that Mini is up to 5 times faster than Apple's Safari. And has a video of a real life comparison test. Besides, as the data gets compressed by central servers, the user will spend much less on a data plan. More  about this on our last article on Opera browsers.

So, will Apple approve such a threat to Apple's own browser? Historically, the answer most likely will be a "No". But Opera is very confident. So much so that they published a web site with a counter, since the submission to App Store, and are taking bets on how long will Apple need to approve it. The winner gets a free iPhone.

More info, video preview, speed comparison test, and sign up for the contest, on Opera Mini on iPhone webpage.

MyPhone
My Phone, the online backup and security service from Microsoft for the Windows Phones was updated to version 1.06 this week.

As usual no log file, so it's not clear what is different.. I believe it to be a little faster on the synching, but can not be sure. Anyway, the program will automatically prompt the users next time they use it, so it's difficult to miss it.

For those not aware of this service from Microsoft, a little intro: My Phone backs up all the main data of your Windows Phone, namely the PIM data (contacts, calendar and tasks), SMS, PIE browser favorites, photos, videos, music, and docs. Including data from the Storage Card. The user can also post photos on several social networks, automatically.

Panasonic 3D TV

Panasonic apparently struck a gold mine: their 3D TV's sold out in 1 week, against all expectations. No numbers were disclosed, but all the available units were sold, and the retailers keep ordering more units.

The products, a 50" TV, a Blu-Ray disc player and an active 3D glasses came with a hefty price tag of USD 2.899,99 (EUR 2.107), and even with just a few media contents on the market, it seems to be just what the consumers wanted.
