ATP GPS PhotoFinderATP Electronics, a company better known for the flash memory, has released their GPS PhotoFinder to ease the pain of geotagging photos.  If you are like myself and love being outdoors capturing landmarks and landscapes in photos (because I have been told my portrait skills are pathetic), then this looks like the must have gadget.

The ATP GPS PhotoFinder as its name implies, is a GPS receiver that keeps track of your location based on signals from satellites.  The difference in this product is that it will marry the GPS data with your photos without the need for a computer or special software.  By inserting your memory card into the card reader slot, it will automatically embed the location information into the JPEG EXIF.

The device works by timestamps, it is necessary to synchronise the clock on the PhotoFinder as closely to your camera as possible.  The internal card reader supports SD/MMC/MS also with a USB port to support an external flash card reader for other formats.

Two standard AAA sized battery will provide up to 8 hours operational time and can store up to 150 hours of GPS data at 5 second intervals on internal memory.  An optional flash memory capacity upgrade will extend the records to 600 hours.

Specifications
Display: 128 x 32 Dot Matrix FSTN with backlight
Connectivity card: Compact Flash Specification Revision 4.0, SD 2.0 SHDC, MMC 4.2, Memory Stick PRO/Duo
Battery: AAA x 2
USB cable: Mini USB to Type A female connector cable

The ATP GPS PhotoFinder is due to ship in the near future for around USD$100.
