Logitech breaks design and performance barriers with edgy new keyboard design
Rechargeable diNovo Edge keyboard is an ultra-slim object of beauty, equally at home in the office or living room.
SYDNEY 16 January, 2007: Logitech today announced the launch of the diNovo Edge, a rechargeable wireless keyboard that gives added flexibility to how computers are used in the home. It's also one of the first keyboards with built in navigation features compatible with Microsoft's new Vista operating system.
As well as its rich feature-set, at just 7.62mm thick, the keyboard's stylish design will be a welcome addition to any lounge room or home office. Marco Manera, Logitech's Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand says aesthetics are as important as the technology, with computers now being used throughout the home. The diNovo Edge is the most beautiful and elegant keyboard weve ever made, he says.
The keyboard features a high-gloss finish, laser cut from a single, semi-translucent piece of black Plexiglas and set into a brushed-aluminum frame. The soft-orange backlit touch-sensitive controls are flush with the keyboard surface.
Easy Navigation
The keyboard's stylish, uncluttered appearance hides a sophisticated range of functions. The backlit icons invisible when not illuminated - offer one touch navigation for Windows XP and XP Media Centre, as well as the upcoming Windows Vista operating system. Pressing the function key illuminates icons for secondary functions, including media controls and application-launch keys. There's also one touch access to Vista's new search feature. When the function key is released, the icons disappear and the keyboards top panel returns to its pristine black state.
The keyboard also includes the first-of-its-kind, touch-sensitive TouchDisc, which enables scrolling or navigating a graphical user interface without having to reach for a mouse ideal when using a media PC in the living room. A pointer button, used with the TouchDisc, enables two-hand navigation.
For multimedia users there's a touch-sensitive volume slider and, three zoom buttons zoom in, zoom out, and 100 percent view to facilitate the navigation and editing of digital photos.
Ergonomic Design
Logitech has responded to the demand for keyboards that can be used easily in different home settings. For example, on many keyboards, when pressure is applied to a keys edge, the key sticks and requires more force to engage. This can be a common problem if the user has the keyboard resting on their lap, but the diNovo Edge's PerfectStroke key system ensures fluid and stable keystrokes wherever you strike the key. Logitech has also carefully calibrated the tension and travel required for keystrokes, optimising the performance.
The flat design just 7.62mm thick - is a response to studies showing that lower-profile keyboards reduce wrist extension and thereby reduce the risk of hand and forearm discomfort.
Wireless And Rechargeable
The diNovo Edge breaks new ground by being Logitechs first rechargeable keyboard. A two hour charge on its stylish stand yields up to two months of battery life.
The keyboard connects easily to PCs with built-in Bluetooth technology. The user simply plugs in the pre-configured micro-receiver into the USB port. The Bluetooth technology gives up to 10 metres coverage a longer range than many cordless keyboards.
Part of the Picture
The diNovo Edge is the newest member of Logitechs premier family of Advanced Peripherals, that offer functionality and form for any lounge-room. It is designed to perfectly complement the powerful MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse. Users can further add the Z-10 2.0 Interactive Speaker System, which matches the diNovo Edge with a soft-orange liquid-crystal media display and a pristine glossy black surface.
Pricing and Availability
The Logitech diNovo Edge has a retail price of AUD$349 incl. GST and is available from reputable computer outlets across Australia. Review units available on request.
