OLYMPUS SHOOTING IN THREES
Olympus Australia has released three new digital cameras for us to drool over.
The Tough 790SW, the SP-560 Ultra Zoom and the E-3.
The three cameras all seem to have a specific type of user in mind - read on for details.
TOUGH 790SW
Despite it's yellow colour on the website, the Tough 790SW is the genuine hard case of the bunch. With no less than six words staking its claim:
- Waterproof to 3m
- Snowproof to -10°c
- Shockproof to 1.5m
- Nightproof Technology
- Shakeproof Anti Blur Mode
- Editproof with Perfect Fix
Okay, so some of them aren't that tough, but the camera does look striking and at 7.1 Megapixels and 3x Optical zoom, sure seems like a good daily adventure camera.
SP-560 Ultra ZOOM
Like the Tough 790SW, the SP-560 Ultra Zoom isn't just an arbitrary name. At 18x Zoom, Olympus claims this camera to have the world's biggest zoom, and while we at DigitalReviews cannot confirm it, we can certainly suggest that 18x optical zoom qualifies as Ultra Zoom at the very least!
The 8.0 Megapixel camera also offers a super fast burst mode for action pictures, dual shake image stabilisation, face detection and shadow adjust technology.
E-3
The E-3 Olympus is the top of the range SLR, with 11 point full twin cross AF sensors and 10 Megapixels. While having all the regular features of a top of the range camera, the E-3 also brandishes a 49 zone ESP metering sensor, 11 point Full-Twin Cross AF sensor (which is claimed to be the fastest in the world) and can accommodate the Olypus's new Supersonic Wave Drive pro lenses for superior and accurate focusing.
