Model Plane Phoenix Flight Simulator

Written by Joe Baker on . Posted in Upcoming Reviews

Read more: Model Plane Phoenix Flight SimulatorThis is what you have been waiting for, a chance to crash your plane in your living room at no expense or damage incurred.

We have been sent a couple of copies of the Phoenix Simulator which now appears to be really taking off (excuse the pun).

It is our intention to see how the radio controlled PKZ Corsair, PKZ Trojan T28D and the EF 2000 jet all handle in an in depth comparison to reality and the Phoenix Flight Simulator.

Whilst Phoenix is really catching on in the overseas model plane industry we suspect that Wayne at www.brooknet.net.au has been largely instrumental in its recent success in Australia.

So put this upcoming review in your social diary to see how it fares on three counts when compared to the real thing!

Note that the Review is now completed and is on this site

If you're dealing with shallow depth of field photography, you've probably come across certain photos that you swear were focused on the right point, but seem to be slightly out? That's where LensAlign from Michael Tapes Design comes into play,

They've developed the LensAlign Focus Calibration System.

This is a tool that will allow you to set your Microfocus adjustment extremely accurately on higher-end DSLR cameras (ie. the Canon 5D Mark II etc), we hope to get our hands on a review unit it shortly, so stay tuned!

SCOOP ! Reserve demerit points low and need some assistance?

Look no further than the Vengeance 2 and the TMG GRL 300 Series radar/laser detectors that we are about to review courtesy of www.radars.com.au.

Already reputed as being a very high end radar/laser detector, and in fact, the only one designed with specific enhancements for Australia, the offer to review the Vengence2 has got us pretty excited.  But imagine how “spun out” we were when we were also offered the latest and greatest GPS based, TMG GRL series 309. This is one of the most innovative and sophisticated road safety monitoring systems in the world today and it is in the final testing adjustment phase for Australia as this goes to print.

Ricoh CX2 Digital Camera

With Ricoh taking out the “Compact Camera” of the year using the CX2 digital camera at the Camera Magazine Imaging Awards, we were understandably excited to be getting one for a review.  But what really fired us up was to be told that we will also be getting the newly released “State of the Art” revolutionary Ricoh GXR camera.  With both of these top quality digital cameras in our hands at the same time, we’ve pretty much got the whole field of photography covered.  From compact “point and shoot”, to the latest in innovative technology for the semi professional and professional there is not much more you could want..

We will compare them against each other in a single article with two co-related reviews published at the same time and give reasons in the conclusions, to justify where we believe the award winning Ricoh CX2 application finishes and the high end Ricoh GXR starts.

Quite a Promise: ZERO

Written by Martin Regtien on . Posted in Upcoming Reviews

Read more: Quite a Promise: ZEROSometimes getting (a) ZERO isn't too bad... and when it comes from Promise Technology, whose NAS products have been a favourite on our editorial team, this will be a box to look out for.

Particularly if all that NAS and RAID stuff is too finicky to set up for you as the ZERO stands for zero configuration! The picture on the left shows a prototype when it initially was still called SmartStor SNS -- Simple Network Storage.

We'll see if that is really true in a few weeks time.

In the meantime, Promise have just released the NS4600 SR1. That stands for Service Release 1, by the way, which means better performance and lots of new features. We may expand on our NS4600 experiences sometime later as well.
