Reviews

Independent write-ups after weeks of end-user experiences and testing.
You may often find indispensible advice here and a no-nonsense attitude to evaluating the products.
We don’t go for the bits-and-bytes approach but aim to address the core factor: value-for-money for the average end-user.

ioSafe Orange

The latest and fastest member of the ioSafe family of tough guys landed on our desk today. Weighing in at 15 pounds (for just 1 hard drive!) you get the distinct impression that this baby gorilla will stand its ground no matter what life throws at it: come hail or flood, fire or brimstone!
Brimstone? Haven’t seen that in any natural disasters lately but it may be on the cards yet...
Anyway, the SoloPRO looks like one hefty, over-engineered, over-protective guardian of your irreplaceable data.
Welcome to my office, black beast, and we’ll see how good you really are.

Ricoh P10 modular lens
As you may remember, some months ago we reviewed the new modular Ricoh GXR semi professional camera with quite good results.

We now have one of Ricoh’s latest released “add on” lenses, the P10, on our desk to assess its performance.

Joysway Surge Crusher
Time to do the last of the four radio controlled boats.  Another pleasurable exercise as this boat’s finish at first glance is as good as the Supervee27 we have just reviewed.  The electric Joysway Surge Crusher is also up there in the high performance Semi Pro arena, where customers demand high speed and handling.

The advertised speed is given as 60 km/h so stick around while I put it through similar test areas to the other boats and see how it comes out.

So let’s go!

Supervee27
Straight out of the box it’s packed in, even by race standards, the new Aquacraft Supervee27 boat is fast.  As a reviewer, we just took it out to the pond and did some runs and you should have seen the attention we got.  The insane handling and speed just took our breath away and we also found some ideas that we put into practice that should help those who already have one.

So what did we find out?

ST Cessna 350 Corvalis
We have already reviewed one high wing Cessna the EGO 182, amongst the nine RC electric aeroplanes that will be included in the Comparative Grid which is likely to be completed in October 2010.

We are also scheduled to do a review later this month on the high wing and higher class, EGO Class 500 Cessna, so we may as well cover all wing styles and do the low wing ST Cessna 350 Corvalis.

How did we find it?  Read on!

Aquacraft Mini Thunder
This really is like Xmas - we have just been sent four top RC boats for review. The other two RC models, soon to be reviewed on this site, are the Aquacraft Semi Pro model Supervee27 and the Semi Pro model Joysway Surge Crusher - but we will do these separately...

These last two Semi Pro models are reputed to produce staggering speeds in excess of 45km/hr.  So let’s check out the first two stages: (1) play-thing stage and then the (2) getting a bit more serious stage.

So stay with us as we initially check out the Aquacraft Mini Thunder and the Aquacraft Rio EP!

Arctic Sound S111 Notebook Speakers

We’ve just reviewed a decent set of USB speakers and these types of external speakers are generally quite all right compared to what’s built into your laptop and certainly compared with the tiny one in your phone. And every time, it never fails to amaze me how much difference they do make.
So it is with this diminutive set of speaker cubes from the well-known Arctic brand, the Sound S111.
Unpack, plug in, enjoy!
It’s that simple or do you want to know more?

PrintStik

Love that name and love that design! Love the fact that it is so small and uses no ink at all.
But can it deliver the quality I need and if so, at what cost?
I’m afraid this review is going to be a mix of love and hate and here’s why.
