Independent write-ups after weeks of end-user experiences and testing.
You may often find indispensible advice here and a no-nonsense attitude to evaluating the products.
We don’t go for the bits-and-bytes approach but aim to address the core factor: value-for-money for the average end-user.

Aegis NetDock 3

Just a few days ago we mentioned the announcement of the Aegis NetDock and already we're having a fantastic looking unit in gorgeous deep red hooked up to our computer!
That's pretty fast for a transpacific and continental shipment. Courtesy of Apricorn and ProLine Communications agency we're having a good look at what is probably the most essential accessory for any netbook and most tablet users: a portable hard drive combined with a DVD burner and a bunch of powered and unpowered USB ports.
Let's check out what's beyond the good looks.

Akai Micro Hi-Fi System

Most of the time the team here at DigitalReviews get to write about the latest and greatest gadgets and equipment. We even have a scoop or two every once in awhile but today we are reviewing a sound system from Akai that has been on the market for over a year and a half.
Why? Funnily enough things don't change all that much in the audio and sound world when it comes to Hi-Fi systems. The Micro Music System we are writing about now has all that you need in a modern system: an iPod dock, MP3 capabilities through USB and card reader as well as all the other standard things like CD player, FM and AM tuner, alarm clock and remote control.
So let's turn up the volume and let's see what this particular model is made of.

Camdapter
Taking a step away from digital gadgets, today I get to play with a hand strap solution for DSLR cameras.  The Camdapter has flown under my radar until my brother found them on the web.  With thanks to Jim at Camdapter, I get to try it out on behalf of DigitalReviews.

Mini Super Club
This is the third of seven remote controlled electric planes that we intend to review in separate detailed reviews on this site.  The others being: the Apprentice 15e (completed), Hobbyzone Champ (completed), Super Cub LP, Trojan T28, Cessna 182 and the new Cessna Classic 500.

Find me a replacement aeroplane for this model as we have just been advised by manufacturers that this RC plane has now been discontinued.  Oddly enough, we don’t see that Hobbyzone have anything to replace it with.  Perhaps they are of the opinion that the larger Super Cub LP can do what the little brother did??  Nevertheless, we will still review the Mini Super Cub as we see it currently filling a gap in the market place which will need to be substituted by something equally as capable.

What is the substitute planes name?

Hobbyzone Champ
This is the second of seven remote controlled electric planes that we intend to review in separate detailed writings on this site.  The others being: the Apprentice 15e (completed), Mini Super Cub, Super Cub LP, Trojan T28, Cessna 182 and the new Cessna Classic 500 culminating in a final article with a final comparison grid on all planes.  Our intention is to also review other peripheral equipment associated with RC planes such as Simulators and Performance batteries but interrelating the peripherals where they are best suited, ie a review on the Phoenix simulator will be with the Trojan T28 as it is one of the aeroplanes you can actually fly in the Simulator programme.

The little Hobbyzone Champ arrived today so let’s look at the second plane in the review series supplied by www.rchobbies.com.au.

E-flite Apprentice 15e
This is the first of the seven RC Electric planes, peripheral equipment and add-ons supplied by www.rchobbies.com.au.  We intend to do seven separate in-depth reviews over the next few months - on the E-flite Apprentice 15e, Hobbyzone Champ, Mini Super Cub, Super Cub LP, Trojan T28, Cessna 182 and the new Cessna Classic 500 with a final comparison grid on all planes.  Hence, we were very pleased when the Apprentice 15E arrived at our door a day or so earlier than expected.

As described in the “Upcoming Reviews”, we will be evaluating the planes from both a true beginner as well as from an expert perspective and will report on all sorts of info in areas that you are unlikely to have seen in other reviews, ie space required to fly each plane as a beginner pilot or an experienced one, take off and landing distances, type and condition of landing medium required for that plane, peculiarities of flight, advantages of Li-Po performance batteries, up market DX6i transmitter, simulators, and Swallow EQ chargers to mention but a few.  We are hopeful of covering everything that anyone wanting to fly RC electric would need to know.

So let’s get started!

Freedom Pro Keyboard

A couple of weeks ago we reviewed a low-end Bluetooth keyboard and this time we present the high end of wireless keyboarding: the Freedom Pro Bluetooth Keyboard – kindly shipped to us by WirelessGround.com.
Whereas the Brando unit was cheap and looked cheap, this keyboard oozes quality.
Typing comfort is much better too as this is just about the full size of my business notebook’s keyboard, yet only about twice the size of the Brando unit when folded and a bit thicker.
Expect full functionality from the Freedom Pro and you will not be disappointed.
What does it have, you ask?

Brando Slim BT Keyboard
There are times when even an onscreen keyboard on a somewhat larger device like the HD2 or even an iPad is a bit awkward to use and it certainly doesn’t give the same feel or speed of an external keyboard.
Enter the Bluetooth enabled keyboards of which we will review two in the coming weeks.
A normal sized but foldable one and the super small Brando Slim Bluetooth Keyboard.
Two advantages spring out straightaway for the Brando device: price and size.
