Reviews
Independent write-ups after weeks of end-user experiences and testing.
You may often find indispensible advice here and a no-nonsense attitude to evaluating the products.
We don’t go for the bits-and-bytes approach but aim to address the core factor: value-for-money for the average end-user.

| Promise Pegasus R6 |
I still remember purchasing my first computer in the mid 1990s with its
massive 400MB hard disk drive. Some fifteen years on, the Pegasus R6 provides home users with 12 Terabytes of directly attached RAID storage. And the amazing part is that the actual storage space isn't the R6's biggest draw! Utilizing Intel's
Thunderbolt technology, Promise Technologies delivers all those Terabytes at blazing fast speeds.
Read on for our review.

The iTwin – A fantastic solution for the home user who wishes to access and change their files remotely and securely. Dead simple to set up with imbedded hardware security, it’s hard to believe this sleek aluminium device is only $99.

The Essential is a dedicated Media Player from the AC Ryan family, who have built quite a name for themselves in this overcrowded market. We have reviewed several others of their models before (plus heaps of other Media Streamers as well) and with the moniker Essential you can pretty well guess that this is not necessarily their top model but quite a capable unit none-the-less.
And right you are!
Let’s have a quick look at its capabilities and then have a look at some of our other reviews of the PlayOn! range to find out what they have in common.

Having reviewed a Samsung Smart TV as well as a Blu-ray home theatre setup in recent months, it is logical to follow that up with a recording device which has at least two TV tuners to make the entertainment centre complete.
We have chosen the Beyonwiz DP-P2 which has been on the market for some time already and has seen a steady evolution over the years in features and capacity of the recording hard drive. The one that I have on our review desk has only a 1TB HDD which is probably sufficient for most households. At any rate, it is easy to off load recordings to another hard drive to maintain sufficient recording capacity.
The Beyonwiz DP-P2 is a relatively well-known performer, so are there any surprises left to discover?

| The Jabra Sport Corded Headset |
I recently had the opportunity to test out a new addition to Jabra’s headset range – The Jabra Sport Corded. Jabra claim that they are a high quality headset built to military specs’ with wind and rain resistant components that are still being able to offer a comfortable fit. So you can power on exercising while listening to music or being on the phone, all during a lovely tropical shower… But we’re not taking their word for it!

We are excited to start a new series of reviews of NAS units that are rack mountable, in other words they all are 19 inch wide to be securely fitted into a cabinet.
The Synology RS810+ with its expansion rack RX410 are the first units, followed by an enterprise NAS system from Promise Technology and the new enterprise class XS series from Synology.
Here are our findings on the RS810+.

This morning I woke up, and felt ready to write my review for the Linutop 4. If you expect some pprp (polished public relations prose) here, I will disappoint you! I am going to write a real life story of what I have experienced, and offer you my opinion from my perspective.
I have taken the Linutop 4 - this great, small example of ict-engineering - for some thorough test drives these last few weeks, and experienced many ups and some downs with it. Testing a system, I like to take it to the limits! In this sequence most tests were positive, a few left me with questions. I also feel I have some ideas to improve the product in the next version.
