Logitech Z337 Bluetooth 2.1 Speaker System - Bold Sound for Small Budgets

On my desk are 3 Logitech products we reviewed and that have been there for ages and are in daily use still: the X-530 speakers (12 years old!), the G-15 Gaming Keyboard and the Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse, both 10 years old.

Message: buy a Logitech product and expect a long and good life together...

So, even though it wasn’t time to replace the X-530 speaker system when Logitech came out recently with the Z337 Bluetooth 2.1 speaker system I was keen to try. My only concern was the low price. Does this mean that the sound would also be low end?

Let’s hear and find out.

The Z337 is a small system consisting of a subwoofer of 23cm wide and high and a couple of speakers of about 1/3 of that volume. There is a control knob, essentially a large volume dial with an on off switch, a Bluetooth pairing button and a head phone jack.
The build quality is in line with the low-budget price but not really cheap looking. I’m glad it doesn’t have a glossy finish but a matte two toned grey colour.

Pairing with your Bluetooth device is quite easy. Press and hold the Bluetooth button until it starts flashing and then you can select this system from your Bluetooth menu on your device.
Ah, I forgot to mention one more button: it’s a dedicated bass button on the back of the subwoofer. Fortunately, this is mainly a set and forget affair because I crank it all up and there is where it will stay....

Ideally, there would be more controls, perhaps via an app which would also function as a remote control. After all, the most elementary of hi-fi systems and even Logitech’s Megaboom speakers can all be controlled via an app which allows also access to an equaliser function.
Not having access to a remote control would only be problematic if you use this system with your TV. Everything is within reach on my desktop while I listen to Spotify.

Now about that “Bold Sound” which is the moniker Logitech gives to this system.
It is actually not too bad, which is Australian for “rather good”, certainly considering its official price of under 150 bucks, street price under 120. There is a good volume, a punchy bass and no bad vibrations.

So What’s the Vibe?
Overall, the Logitech Z337 Bluetooth 2.1 Speaker System is good value for what little money you have to pay for it. With a bit of luck it will last the distance so that you only have to upgrade again when the Z999 becomes available with Goldtooth, (expected replacement for Bluetooth ...). Just kidding.

Actually, there’s that Z906 5.1 Surround Sound System (with remote control!) that we would love to test for you... Stay tuned!

Below are some specs of the Z337 if you have to know the ins and outs.
