Olympus EVOLT E-510 Training Video Review

EliteVideoOne of my cameras is the Olympus E-510, in some countries also known as the EVOLT E-510.

It's a very capable DSLR with some unique features.

We have written about one of its predecessors, the E-300 more than two years ago and I've always been enamoured by the LiveView feature which was quite revolutionary in those days.  Normally I am quite happy to read the manual but this time around I also watched a couple of training DVDs from EliteVideo.com.

Was it worth the $50 that they cost?

Lumix TZ3Owning a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 has made me enthusiastic about the quality of cameras that Panasonic makes.
Today we’re having a first look at a smaller sibling in the Lumix range, the DMC-TZ3.
The Travel Zoom series has culminated now with the TZ3 in a 7 megapixel, 10x zoom camera with image stabilization.
Let’s have a look in this mini-review at the main features of this very capable camera (Street Price around USD330).

8 MP and Feature-Filled

In the never-ending parade of compact Point & Shoot cameras, the Exilim range from Casio has been earning quite a reputation for delivering high quality units with loads of features. None more so than the Exilim ZOOM EX-Z850 which we’ve been testing over the past few weeks.

We even took the little critter up in the air to size it against my other cameras which I use for aerial photography and guess what?

Casio's EX-Z57 digital camera is Casio's latest 5 mega pixel camera.  If you aren't aware already, Casio is known for making slim cameras which are packed full of features.  The EX-Z57 falls into that category.  It is slim and offers more or less the same features as EX-Z55 which was reviewed previously.  In fact, they both look very similar.  What makes these slim cameras so attractive is their portability and style.  These cameras can be easily placed in your pocket wherever you go without the need having to carry the bulk of much larger cameras.  For the beginner or novice, these cameras provide the features which make it easy to use.  As a versatile, easy-to-use camera, a user can simply take the camera out, take a picture, and put it away.

As a professional aerial photographer I don’t think I ever have come across the perfect camera. Whether it’s film or digital, medium format or 35mm all cameras are a compromise which may work well with one group of photographers but less so with others. And much of it is personal preference. With that qualifying statement I have found my initial two weeks in the company of the latest Digital SLR from Olympus a most pleasant experience. Let me share my findings on the E-300 – also named Evolt in other countries – in this introduction (a more in-depth report may follow later).

When people think of digital camera brands, most immediately think of well known and popular brand names such as Canon, Nikon, Olympus, etc.  How many people consider the name 'Casio' when it comes to digital cameras?  When I think of Casio, I usually think of their quality and unique electronic watches.  Casio has been in the digital camera market for quite a number of years now.  The main focus of Casio's product line is the Exilim series which is composed of cameras both for the consumer or for an amateur or professional photographer.  The upscale cameras are part of the 'Pro' line and the snapshot consumer cameras are their "Zoom" line.  Today, I will be reviewing Casio's latest Exilim Z-50 digital camera.  This camera is meant for quick snapshots.  This camera sports a large 2 inch LCD screen on the back of the screen and an outstanding 5 mega pixels in an extremely small package.
