Who Needs a Cord Anyway - Bissell AirRam Vacuum Cleaner Reviewed

Read more: Who Needs a Cord Anyway - Bissell AirRam Vacuum Cleaner ReviewedWe haven't seen a vacuum cleaner cross our review desk since June 2011 when we took a look at the impressive Dyson Slim DC35. Like the DC35, Bissell's AirRam is cordless, compact and for a vacuum cleaner, kind of cool looking.

And here is where the Bissell steps it up a notch: Unlike every cordless vacuum cleaner we have ever seen, the Bissell AirRam is aimed at actually replacing, not complementing your mains powered vacuum cleaner!

It's a perennial problem: how do you contain your dog on a property with enough freedom to roam around a bit, yet within safe boundaries?

Case in point: we have a large, 11 acre property with rather porous fences and an open gate next to a busy road. Our inquisitive labrador loves to check out the neighbourhood when not locked up.

SureGuard Australia seems to have the right solution for this and similar problems. Let's review their Solar Powered Dog Electric Fence Model 605.

ESDS Electronic Shark Defense System

Do shark shields or electronic shark defense systems work, you ask? Sure they do! Well it did last time we tested a similar product that produced an electrical field to keep the big "bities away" (an alternative to the ESDS, the Freedom 7 was reviewed here on this site in 2009 - see link ).

We have been using an electronic shark shield pretty much every second day in summer and occasionally even during winter for swimming protection since 2009 and we have not been eaten yet, although nearby sightings have been made. We are absolute believers in the principles that these work on and have done so since the practical first evaluation. We have just been given one that's just been released to the market, the ESDS.

Let There Be Light! Daylight Magnifying Lamp – Reviewed

Read more: Let There Be Light! Daylight Magnifying Lamp – Reviewed It was only a few months ago that we had a good look at the Foldi Lamp from Daylight, a very handy small desk lamp with natural daylight LEDs. We were quite impressed with the difference it makes if you need to do colour matching. And in the good tradition of the Mythbusters, we need to upscale the test! So today we are reviewing a much bigger Magnifying Lamp from the Daylight Company.

Read more: Want Daylight at Night? Foldi LED Lamp – ReviewedThere are times in your life when you wish you could see the stuff you’re working on in natural daylight. Particularly crafters, quilters and hobbyists who want to see their material in living colour, not tinted by the colour of the lamp they’re working under.

Working under an open window is the best way – during the day. But what if the room is dark or it’s dark outside?

Enter the Foldi, a stylish, folding table lamp fitted with 30 bright daylight LEDs.

What difference does it make? Let’s find out.

Thrunite Catapult V3 Best Brightest LED Torches – Reviewed

Written by Joe Baker on . Posted in Miscellaneous

Read more: Thrunite Catapult V3 Best Brightest LED Torches – ReviewedHas the Thrunite Catapult V3 LED torch now got the “golden crown” as the brightest light thrower on the market today? With Catapult quoting ANSI lumens and the Jetbeam LED RRT3 torch quoting lumens, which shines the furthest??

I have been assured by someone who has ALL varieties of torches available to test in his retail store, that the Catapult V3 by Thrunite shines a lot further than the Jetbeam RRT3 and most other LED torches. Well words are cheap! So we said to James at www.ledtorchshop.com.au “never mind the specifications or which lumens they declare, send us one and we will find out for sure”.

We will do an independent test of the Thrunite Catapult V3 against the Jetbeam RRT3 in a “shine the furthest” contest. Mind you, we are still going to comment on ease of operation as well as the build quality.

So if you want to know if it is bright enough to win, read on cos’ I reckon it’s too bright only when it burns out someone’s eye sockets at 300+ metres.

Best ? Home Security System DVR8–2600 - Reviewed

Read more: Best ? Home Security System DVR8–2600 - ReviewedThe Elite Home Security system, the Swann DVR8-2600 8 Channel with Smartphone viewing has been coupled to a camera called the Swann Pro 690 Super-High Resolution Pan, Tilt & Zoom Dome camera. This camera is so NEW to the marketplace that at the time of going to print, the Swann Pro 690 hasn’t yet been allocated a RRP but it will surely prove to be good reading. Along with reviewing the four standard cameras (Pro 580’s) which are normally included in the package, we will also look at another new item to the marketplace, the Pro 680 manual focus camera.

We have just been sent some of the latest upmarket home security equipment from Swann, so we will compare this new  DVR8 2600 and cameras to the DVR4 Pro-Net previously reviewed on this site to see how Swann technology has advanced in home security systems.

We will test these products and comment on their application in a similar manner to the very successful reviews done on this site. We believe we can help you in your decision making and subsequent purchases of high quality security systems that are “fit for purpose”.

Read more: RC Electric Glider and Focke Wulf plane - ReviewedWe did some research and asked Kellettshobbies for the popular ST Models Fox Glider 1800 BNF just to see why and if this glider is really as good as people say it is. Next we will “sus’ out” a new arrival war plane - the BNF ST Focke Wulf 190A. Complete with wheel retracts, this plane does not appear to have been reviewed by anyone yet so it will be interesting to see where it fits into our 23 plane Comparison review as well.

To celebrate the opening of their revamped website, Kelletts Hobbies have provided us with a sample of products from their huge stock selection. Whilst Kellets have been around since 1978, the website has just been upgraded to provide a more accessible range of hobby products for the online buyer. Kelletts are not new to supplying top boats, buggies, helicopters, planes and all spare parts and ancillaries and we also discovered they even generally stock all the winning planes that featured in our 23 plane comparison shown on this site under “Best RC Electric Planes Compared”.

But this time we have got something different, so read on!
