Flight Planner, Moving Map and Steak Knives?

The pockmarked minescape around Kalgoorlie slides by some 8000 feet below. I glance at the small screen cradled on my yoke: it’s reassuring for my passengers (as well as the designated driver!) to see the airplane symbol right on the track to Albany. For a change we have a tailwind as indicated by the wind barbs on the moving map and confirmed by a healthy groundspeed. I check the screen for recent rainfall activity up ahead after having updated the program with the latest Metars and TAFs. It’s time for another radio frequency change to keep in touch with Melbourne Centre as indicated by the passage of a thick blue line across my track on the display.
Life is glorious in the fast lane… and has become a lot easier with the latest release of PocketFMS.

In Part One, published last week, we gave you the unboxing and modus operandi -how it works- of this Head-Up Display.
Now we will talk about the installation, test drives, availability and the all important Value for Money factor.  And, oh yes, one of the test vehicles was a 1986 Ferrari....

ProportaThis is one of those reviews you shouldn't be reading!

The shortest route to appreciate the product is to go to the website, and order one: the Proporta Wireless FM Transmitter!

A few days later it will arrive in the mail. Put in two penlite batteries, then just plug it into your MP3 player.

Switch on the radio, tune in to your private radio station... and start playing your favorite music.

Really, that's all there is to it!

GlobalTop HUD GPS HG-100

DigitalReviews.net brought you the initial announcement of GlobalTop Technology's fascinating Head-Up Display a few months ago and we follow that up today with our scoop review of the HG-100.

It's one of the more innovative GPS products we have seen lately as it combines a Bluetooth GPS receiver with speed alerts and projects your speed and direction onto your windscreen.

Plus it works with the navigation software on your Smartphone or PDA!

This enables you to keep your eyes on the road when it is most needed and that's why we are testing this on a Ferrari.

Buckle in and come along for the ride!

 Logitech Harmony Remote

The universal gripe about remote controls is that there are too many of them in the average household and they are too complicated to use.  We want one device to control all the others.
Is that a pipe dream?  Hardly.  Universal controls have been around for quite some time with Logitech one of the key players in this field.  Now they’ve brought out the ultimate control device: the Harmony 1000i Universal Remote.  Capable of subduing every household and entertainment device within 10 yards!  But how did I fare in subduing the Harmony?  Well, that’s an entirely different story...

Zerotherm BTF90

When evaluating a CPU cooler, there are several things to look into.  In order of importance, the obvious factor is how well the product actually cools the CPU.  And then the next question to ask is how simple is it to install.  And then it would also be nice if the cooling solution looked good at the same time.  The ZeroTherm BTF90 is a product that provides an elegant-looking cooling solution that aims to nail down all of these key areas and excel in them at the same time.

 Miglia TVMini Express

When I took up the offer to write a review on the TVMini Express by Miglia Technology I didn't quite know what to expect.
Technologies develop fast and shift while we as consumers might just not be aware of it.

In hindsight it's all quite clear! I live in the Netherlands, where like most households we have cable television. When I saw a news item sometime last year (I think it was September 2006) I didn't take much notice of it: the normal airwave tv transmissions in our country would stop on December 11th, to be replaced by digital airwaves... I remember thinking something like: "So what?!" And forgot about it, until I received this tiny box over the mail a few weeks ago.

I must say I have learnt a lot over the past few days, and found a good excuse to buy myself a beautiful new little laptop. Now I enjoy clear tv pictures, and sparkling stereo sound with my headphones.

Of course I realize it's a bit over the top to buy a new MacBook only for reviewing this tiny digital marvel at the beginning of the 21st century. I see it as a lovely start on a journey to make it the center of all my digital communication: education, entertainment, keeping in touch with friends and family all over the world...

The Tornado: PC to PC Data Transfer Device

 Tornado

Every once in awhile a gadget lands on your desk and hangs around, kicking up a storm.

The aptly named The Tornado (but not for its destructive capabilities!), is an incredibly useful device for transferring data from one PC to the other.

We have just finished a big Vista migration in which this device played a major role.

Let me show you how life in the fast lane has now become a lot easier with hurricane-like transfer speeds and a pretty (inter)face.

Coby MP-C951 MP3 Player

When talking about MP3 Players, I usually put them into different categories typically based on their storage capacity.  The 1-2GB MP3 players are usually simple and nature and are meant to be on the go and be able to listen to a few songs here and there.  the 4-8GB MP3 players can store quite a bit more songs.  And the last categories are the ones that are 20GB and above that can pretty much handle your entire music collection.  These MP3 players vary in functionality.  Typically, the larger the capacity of the MP3 player, the more likely it is to have features such as viewing pictures or even videos.  The smaller capacity MP3 players are more for basic music playing and will be lucky to find a FM Tuner or voice recording capabilities.  The whole point is that MP3 players come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.  It is best to determine what your needs are before looking at what is available in the market.  Are you the type of person who just wants to be able to listen to a few songs on your free time or do you want to be able to carry your entire music collection and be able to listen to your music all the time?
