Today we
are looking at the Noctua NF-P12 120mm Fan.
You would think its hard to get excited over
another fan on the market but how wrong you would be.
This little
gem is stylish, quiet and ever so effective at keeping the temperature inside
your
computer case at a comfortable level, no more leaving the sides off your
computer case during
the warmer
months.
Noctua is an
Austrian company specializing in the development of sound optimized cooling
solutions
and are fast
becoming a brand synonymous with quality innovative designs that deliver just
what they
say they
will and for their efforts they are winning a swag of awards and a great
reputation.

With Noctua
themselves stating the P in NF-P12 stands for pressure, power and performance
this apricot
and maroon
fan with 9 (not 7 as with most fans) odd shaped blades that were designed
specifically
to produce
the quietest fan while still achieving a high air pressure, the blades spin at
a lower speed
than most
making them more energy efficient that coupled with a long life of over 150,000
hours (more than
17 years of
continuous use) this product is also excellent value for money, despite the
initial outlay being
slightly
higher than some others on the market and comes with 6 years warranty, hows
that for confidence!
We should
also mention the Smooth Commutation Drive, which improves the running
smoothness of the Fan and the
SSO-Bearing
(Self Stabilizing Oil-pressure Bearing) for which Noctua's supremely proven
system guarantees quiet
operation
and exceptional long term stability.
The best
application for this product is high static pressure like the cooling of CPU
processor heat sinks or
water cooled
systems where silence is golden and cooling is imperative. In the
Noctua's stylish brown/blue/black box you get everything you need for
installation.

As stated
the Decibel to airflow ratio are impressive however its the pitch of the sound that
makes the difference on this one.

Conclusion
The Noctua
NF-P12 while prices slightly higher than others on the market would be my
first choice
in cooling fans. The pleasant pitch of the fan with the smooth operation
the long
life, the energy efficiency and the cooling capabilities have me sold.
The Colour
Scheme is a little different but then like most name brand products they want
them to
stand out, and as it goes inside the case and is hidden from view unless you
have
a clear case
I dont foresee it being an issue for most people.
I would give this product a rating of 8/10.
