The Essential is a dedicated Media Player from the AC Ryan family, who have built quite a name for themselves in this overcrowded market. We have reviewed several others of their models before (plus heaps of other Media Streamers as well) and with the moniker Essential you can pretty well guess that this is not necessarily their top model but quite a capable unit none-the-less.

Having reviewed a Samsung Smart TV as well as a Blu-ray home theatre setup in recent months, it is logical to follow that up with a recording device which has at least two TV tuners to make the entertainment centre complete.
We have chosen the Beyonwiz DP-P2 which has been on the market for some time already and has seen a steady evolution over the years in features and capacity of the recording hard drive. The one that I have on our review desk has only a 1TB HDD which is probably sufficient for most households. At any rate, it is easy to off load recordings to another hard drive to maintain sufficient recording capacity.
The Beyonwiz DP-P2 is a relatively well-known performer, so are there any surprises left to discover?

We have not seen any reviews yet on the latest mid-range Samsung Smart TVs and certainly not on the 2011 models here in Australia so we are happy to present you with an in-depth report on the Samsung 6600, which is the top model in the Series 6 range. This Internet connected Smart TV landed on our test bench courtesy of Samsung Australia and Albany Retravision, our local electronics superstore.
If you are looking to upgrade your TV and haven't done so in the last few years you'll be amazed at not only the superlative quality of the viewing experience but also the interconnectivity of these so-called Smart TVs.

It's been nearly two years since we reviewed Elgato's EyeTV DTT Deluxe and as expected, Egato have not been napping.

Not only have Elgato added Windows functionality to their formerly Mac only offerings, but with the release of the Netstream DTT, Elgato have created a box which effectively shares HDTV across a local network.
