We were so impressed with the former “top of the tree” media player, the Astone AP 360T, that we leapt at the opportunity to review the latest and greatest from www.astone.com.au.  The new flagship Astone Media Gear AP 380DT Media Player with Dual Tuner is the next generation player which we have got the scoop on.  This product is so hot off the assembly line that the manual has not even been put together in written format yet.

If this new model follows in the innovative footsteps of the previous one, then we are expecting to be very impressed as we have just remembered that the old model AP 360T fair kicked up a storm and set new records in the “hits” department.

So let’s put the two models side by side and see what new things Astone have done.

This unit has created immense interest on the digital reviews News, setting new records, for the number of visits in a day, (in excess of 20,000), so we will make sure we do it justice.


Firstly the unit is “top of the Tree” in the Astone Media Gear range, with an impressive specification sheet to go with it
We have noted already that it is not supplied with a Hard drive, understandable because users individual capacity needs will vary.
No dongle is supplied with the unit, and we are surprised at this as it would have been seen as a more complete package. The Ethernet only supports 10/100 Mbps where ,being a top notch product we could have reasonably expected 10/100/1000.

Since early 2008 we've been keenly interested in Syabas's Popcorn Hour units. Shortly after our review of the ground breaking A-100, we took a look at the refined A-110 along with its somewhat confused sibling, the B-110.

With the new Popcorn Hour C-200 however, Syabas is looking to change the media streaming game forever.
