In creating the original Xbox, Microsoft unwittingly helped create the
single most affordable and feature packed media player of the Standard
Definition age. The free open source Xbox Media Centre (XBMC) software
- when coupled with a modified Xbox - sets the standard for home theatre
playback.
Is the Popcorn Hour A-100 the new High Definition equivalent?

Recently I bought a JVC Everio HDD camcorder which came bundled with some CyberLink software for editing video.
This OEM version of PowerDirector Express was easy to work with for a neophyte such as me but ultimately would be rather limited.
Subsequently I acquired the full version of PowerDirector v6 and checked it out.
Here are my initial findings.

For years I've had a few video-tapes archived in my study, waiting for
a chance to revisit the pictures - and retouch them to show family and
friends memories of bygone days.
Besides that, I have a small
collection of videos I would like to watch again once in a while, maybe
not the whole tape... just the best parts.
Enter the Dazzle by Pinnacle
Systems!
So with some excitement I looked out for the postman to
deliver the package...

Be honest: have you ever wanted to control a blaring TV in a waiting room or other public space?
Well, these days you can even though its not something I recommend. However, theres something immensely practical about the TVgo Tiny Remote from QVPUSA.
Yes, its about the tiniest fully functional remote control and even incorporates an LED flashlight!
Its eminently suitable to be carried on my key ring. And there it takes pride of place but is the TVgo really all its hyped up to be?

The Draganflyer is an amazing piece of kit: this remote control helicopter has a unique design, is extremely maneuverable and very easy to fly compared to conventional RC helicopters.
We have just taken delivery of the Draganflyer Stabilized Aerial Video System (SAVS) and will bring you a series of in-depth reviews on the unique capabilities of this UAV.
This is not a toy, nor is it a professional tool but occupies a niche position to create some great aerial video.
Here is Part One.

When I took up the offer to write a review on the TVMini Express by Miglia Technology I didn't quite know what to expect.
Technologies develop fast and shift while we as consumers might just not be aware of it.
In hindsight it's all quite clear! I live in the Netherlands, where like most households we have cable television. When I saw a news item sometime last year (I think it was September 2006) I didn't take much notice of it: the normal airwave tv transmissions in our country would stop on December 11th, to be replaced by digital airwaves... I remember thinking something like: "So what?!" And forgot about it, until I received this tiny box over the mail a few weeks ago.
I must say I have learnt a lot over the past few days, and found a good excuse to buy myself a beautiful new little laptop. Now I enjoy clear tv pictures, and sparkling stereo sound with my headphones.
Of course I realize it's a bit over the top to buy a new MacBook only for reviewing this tiny digital marvel at the beginning of the 21st century. I see it as a lovely start on a journey to make it the center of all my digital communication: education, entertainment, keeping in touch with friends and family all over the world...

Most PC users are familiar with Lite-On as a company that provides optical drives such as CD and DVD recorders for the PC. Lite-On also makes consumer DVD players and recorders. Since this area has a more broad range of users, it is important that any user, whether it be a novice or expert, that they will be able to use the product easily.

If you are on the lookout for a 19 inch LCD monitor, then consider the Samsung Syncmaster 915n. Unlike your typical 19 inch LCD monitor, this has an extremely low pixel response time of 8ms which makes this monitor very attractive for gaming. The previously recently reviewed LG 1980U had a pixel response time of 12ms. The real question that you may ask is whether there is really a difference between 12 and 8ms. In general, the answer is 'yes'. There is a slight difference, that is, if you have a picky eye. Although pixel response time is important to gamers, we cannot forget
the other features that are important to the quality of a monitor.
This includes things like the overall design, contrast ratio, and of
course the overall picture quality. In this review, we will be taking
a look at Samsung's newly released Syncmaster 915n LCD monitor.
