Flybook_V33i mobile charger

There are few notebooks that have been head turners from the moment they were launched.

The Sony Vaio is one of them and the Flybook from Dialogue another.

It's been about two-and-a-half years ago when we first reviewed the original Flybook  ultra-portable notebook.

At this very moment the latest incarnation, the Flybook V33i,  is  glamming up our desk, sporting a deep Ferrari-red exterior, making its diminutive size even  more delectable...
Now that the Flybook has attained almost cult status, the question remains: is our first  love for this highly connected machine still there?

The QuickCam series of webcams from Logitech now sport a new model with ultra image clarity. Better lenses and RightLight 2 Technology were key to this development.

The lower f-stop also allows good quality video in poor lighting situations.

Whether this coverage sounds outrageously and dangerously over the top or whether it's marketing speak for "more than adequate" we don't know yet but this latest (and largest) device, the AS 8800, from AlphaShield is the one to get, we reckon.
It's available next month for about $250 and sports 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports with a firewall, USB print server and VPN support.
We hope to bring you the details when we get our own machine soon as we've been enthusiastic about the hardware firewall that the first AlphaShield brought us: see our earlier review here.

F-tech Solar Bluetooth 32 Channel GPS Receiver

f-tech solar GPS

When F-tech became the first company to bring out a solar GPS receiver well over a year ago, we all thought: “Why didn’t anyone think of that before?!”
Brilliant idea because most of the time the unit sits on the dashboard in full sunlight.
We reviewed that first unit, even gave a handful away in a competition and now we present you the “Mark II” – the follow up unit: shrunk in size and more capable as you would expect.
What were our findings?

Just like the other site in our DigitalReviews Network, PocketPCReviews.net, our regular visitors will notice a dramatic new look to this site: fresh, fast and with a bit of that "Vista" look. But under the bonnet that's where the real changes are as we moved to a Content Management System with Mambo software. This allows easier updates, more interactivity with our readers and better support for our advertisers.

Thanks in particular to Alex Parker, our resident Mambologist and Marcel from Z-Networks who signed up for the design and implementation! Great work, guys!

We have migrated some of the hundreds of our previous reviews to the new format.

We intend to publish on an almost daily basis and will bring you a lot of news and scoops from the industry.

Here's what's coming soon: reviews on Dialogue's new V33i Flybook, the OzIQ 32" All-in-One PC-TV and an amazing remote controlled aerial platform, the DraganFly,  which combines many different technologies.

Today, we bring you the scoop on the new f-tech 32 channel Bluetooth SOLAR GPS receiver.

And we have an Exciting Job Opportunity!

Our REVIEW Policy

Written by Martin Regtien
Dec 01, 2006 at 12:00 AM

DigitalReviews .Net is always happy to review your products at no cost to you.
Our reviews -- as you probably already noticed from looking at our websites-- generally cover a lot more ground than a 'rehashed' corporate press announcement.

Normally, when we review hard-and software, the manufacturers, developers or distributors are keen for us to just have and use the items.
It's a small investment on their part in return for an objective, but generally also very positive review which increases the awareness of their new product (few people realise the time it cost us to do a really in-depth review rather than just a mention of the product that you see in so many media, nor do they have an appreciation of the cost involved in running a fast-growing website).

Being a top-rated Review site, DigitalReviews Network is often able to help companies to get a foothold in marketing their products and we often do because of our in-depth and enthusiastic reviews. That does cost us time and money for which we do not charge you.

We've created worldwide marketing attention for many products from Europe and SE Asia through our reviews which are frequently picked up by many News sites. As a result DigitalReviews Network is often Number One on Google for a lot of the products we've reviewed.

We regularly review laptops, SmartPhones and other, high-priced items that are being sent to us free of any obligation to return.

We can appreciate that this may not work for really expensive units or if the company has a different review policy and we're OK with that.

Sometimes we might accommodate them with advertising for the retail value of the item.

In return we ask that we don't have to go through the extra expense and trouble of sending the product back or having to pay for a sample unit.

If you think that's a fair deal and you can do with the publicity please consider our offer.

Dialogue ultra-portable Flybook V33i Coming Soon!

Nov 30, 2006 at 12:00 AM

It's been quite some time since we wrote about the Dialogue ultra-portable Flybook.

We were fortunate enough to have one of the first original Flybooks well over two years ago and still think it can't be beat for connectivity and portability.

Finally, Dialoque has released the "Mark II" and is getting away from the TransMeta chips.

While we're waiting for the latest Flybook to arrive on our doorstep sometime this week, have a look at a couple of our earlier reviews we did on this now almost cultic machine.

Here's the second review from some two years ago:

I’ve spent about 3 months with arguably the best-connected ultra-portable notebook in the world, most of that time on the road and all of the time the Flybook being the only computer I worked with.  How did that go?  Have my enthusiastic first impressions (see our July 21 review) mellowed or did I discover the Flybook is for keeps?

Follow me as I put my travelling companion to work.

32 Inch OzIQ All-in-One PC/TV

Australian upstart, OzIQ, has been around in the All-in-One market with a few models competing with laptops as far as screen size. Suddenly they enter the fray with a massive, yet elegant, 32 incher!

The specs and pricing are quite decent, judging from this preliminary info sheet.

OzIQ is having the 32" PC /TV on the shelves here in Australia already.

We had one here on our desk recently for a few days, so we can vouch for the fact that it's not vapourware!

We had to send that one back as it did not have our requested specifications.

Now we're waiting for our own machine now to do an in-depth review on, so we'll keep you posted!

The biggest decision you'd have to make is where to put this monster: office or lounge...

HOT UPDATE: Key specs include Core 2 Duo and MCE or XP Pro (see more detail below)
