Lite-On SHW-1673SU

Lite-On is known for making affordable quality optical drive products.  One one side, you can see their products in the home entertainment department where you can find consumer DVD players and recorders.  If you have a computer though, they manufacture CD and DVD burning optical drives.

Today, I will be reviewing Lite-On's latest external DVD and CD burning optical drive, the SHW-1673SU.  If you are familiar with Lite-On's model numbers, you might have noticed that this product contains the number '1673' in its name.  Perhaps this drive may have some relation to the internal SOHW-1673S drive?  I did a little research on the specifications of both products and they both have the exact same specifications in terms of reading and writing speeds for various formats.  Although this may just be an external version of the SOHW-1673S drive, what is more important is the interesting EZ-DUB feature this external drive has.  As the name implies it allows a user to quickly 'DUB' or copy discs or files with just a press of a button.  We'll explore this feature more further in this review.

With a USB drive, some people may not realize that there is more than you can do with a portable drive than plainly moving/copying files on and off of the drive.  When you are using a USB drive from one computer to another, people tend to get lost figuring out which files are newly updated and which are older.  With powerful software, you can carry more than just your files, you can carry your email as well.  Let me introduce you to two products that do just that: PowerhouseSoft's Migo and Imaginelan's P.I. Protector.  Both products are software that are designed to allow you to carry your Outlook email and be able to send and receive mail within in.  With the file synchronization capabilities in these products, you can also ensure that the files you are working with are the same no matter what computer you use.

A power supply unit is a basic, simple component for a computer.  However, it is one of the component's that is more crucial for your computer. Essentially, without a power supply, you have no power to your computer.   The power supply provides power to every single piece in your computer such as your motherboard, video card, fans, etc.

Hot from Taiwan, hot on specs and hot in performance: the new AnexTEK moboDA 3360 PocketPCPhone. And, for a change, the English-speaking world is to get this phone before Asia does! This latest incarnation from the Wistron company is a far cry from its earlier SP230 model for which we had the scoop review last year. With Windows Mobile 5.0 running on a 520 MHz XScale PXA272 and all the connectivity you’d want plus a 1.3 MP camera this would be a serious contender if you’re looking for an all-in-one device. How does it perform, how does it feel and how is the quality of the phone, the camera and the PDA? Those questions we will look at in this First Impressions review. We’ll have another, more in-depth review, in a few weeks.

With the abundant number of USB drives available on the market, it can be difficult differentiating one from another.  Typically, we try to review USB flash drives that we think are unique in design and looks which set itself apart from many other products.  While the design and look of a product does matter a lot to a consumer, the OCZ Rally USB 2.0 flash drive's main focus is performance.

Many people have heard of the term GPS, or Global Positioning System, but are not fully informed in what it has to offer.  Many people have the misconception that it requires dishing out money to use it, but in actuality, GPS is a free service which requires no subscription of any sort or any extra money.  GPS involves communicating with the existing satellites in orbit in order to determine the exact position depending where you are.  By knowing exactly where you are, this immediately makes it a suitable application when going on those long hiking trips or just exploring some place you've never been to.  When combined with powerful software, GPS can provide more uses such as navigating from one place to another.

We made a brief mention of the OZiQ All-in-one PC Panel some weeks ago.
Since then, we’ve met and interviewed the guy from Tucana Innovations who designed the OZiQ and also spent a few hours with the very capable All-in-one machine.
Today, my first impressions of the OZiQ, to be followed by a more extensive overview of its capabilities in a few months’ time.

Since I enjoy sound, you probably have noticed the many speaker reviews on the site.  I'm always interested in the unique designs of speakers and of course in search for better sound.  For PC users, the typical companies that come to mind when talking about multimedia speakers are Logitech, Creative, Altec Lansing, etc. Today, I present to you a speaker set that should not be left out: it is the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II.

LCD displays for the computer have come to the point where they are more affordable and are starting to become more common.  Computer manufacturers now provide consumers with the option of choosing a CRT monitor or upgrading to an LCD display.  When comparing LCD displays with CRT monitors, each have their unique features that tend to a user's preference.  LCD displays are much thinner, lighter, and definitely more portable than a CRT monitor.  CRT monitors on the other hand are much heavier, but are much cheaper.
