New research from FUJIFILM Australia has revealed Forest Green and Cobalt Blue are dominating Australians’ camera rolls in 2026, with the findings inspiring a new interactive photography experience for World Photography Day.
According to research commissioned by Fujifilm Australia, 49% of Australians say Forest Green has appeared most often in their photos and videos this year, making it the nation’s most photographed colour. Cobalt Blue followed at 39%, while Butter Yellow rounded out the top three at 22%, ahead of Merlot Red (19%), Mocha Brown (19%) and Fuchsia Pink (16%).
The research also sheds light on where Australians are finding those colours. Forest Green most commonly appears in nature and wildlife photography (39%), followed by travel and landscapes (31%), while Cobalt Blue is most often associated with travel photography (22%). Butter Yellow, meanwhile, is most frequently captured through food and drink photography (23%), narrowly ahead of travel and landscapes (22%).
Regional trends also emerged, with South Australians proving to be the country’s greenest photographers, as 57% nominated Forest Green as one of their most photographed colours. Queenslanders were the biggest fans of Cobalt Blue, with 45% saying it featured prominently in their camera roll this year.
To celebrate World Photography Day, Fujifilm is bringing the popular social media Colour Hunt trend into the real world with two complimentary guided photography workshops at the Fujifilm House of Photography in Sydney on Saturday 22 August.
The experience begins with a hands-on workshop led by photographer Henry C, where participants will learn how to capture vibrant colour using lighting, composition and camera settings while exploring Fujifilm’s renowned colour science. Attendees will then head into Sydney’s CBD on a guided Colour Hunt, searching for the session’s featured colour across architecture, cafés, fashion, public art and everyday street scenes while receiving practical photography advice along the way.
Each participant will have the opportunity to use a Fujifilm camera throughout the experience before returning to the Fujifilm House of Photography to print and take home their favourite image.
Fujifilm is also encouraging participants to continue the Colour Hunt online. Those who share an original image on Instagram, tag @fujifilmx_au and use the hashtags #greenblooded and #FujifilmColourHunt will go into the draw to win a FUJINON XF35mmF2 R WR Black Lens (RRP $699), while three runners-up will each receive a $100 Fujifilm House of Photography Gift Card.
Places for the complimentary workshops are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis via Eventbrite.
