With autumn in full flight with colder and rainy days, sunset coming earlier, why not grab a throw blanket and curl up on the couch and watch some quality title releases? There are plenty to appeal for all ages.

AHEDA May 2022

Too wet to go outside? Appealing to the kids and video-game enthusiasts alike, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a nostalgic take on the adventure film that features everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog in his quest to be a true hero. Showcasing familiar faces with the likes of James Marsden and Jim Carrey, let this be your light-hearted, family-friendly flick of choice.

Very swiftly becoming the internet’s new favourite film (sold out screenings and viral Tik Tok threads for those in the know), Everything Everywhere All At Once is the sci-fi film that needs to be seen by all. With Michelle Yeoh starring as the strong female lead of Evelyn Wang, we’re led through alternate realities while the heroine continues to be served curveballs in life, love and the multiverse.

Changing up the pace, Drive My Car is the first non-English language film to win Best Picture from all three major US critics groups. The accolades have poured in for this Japanese introspective drama. It would be remiss of me not to mention the red 1987 Saab 900 Turbo that features in the film, a brand that I am still in mourning for (RIP for my 2006 9-3 Aero).

For those seeking a darker thrill, time to get in touch with one of the most compelling and conflicted characters to exist in the Marvel universe, Morbius. Renowned method actor, Jarod Leto, brings a radical level of darkness and despair to his role as the troubled doctor infected with a rare and dangerous blood disorder.
