Industry experts have been calling this for a while – voice has never been more important since the advent of the telephone age by Alexander Graham Bell. Nothing.Tech has just dropped Essential Voice – extending the Essential AI tools hat help you capture, find, recall and create by adapting to how you think and live into speech.
What is Nothing Essential Voice AI?
Right now, the main way we communicate on our phones is through typing. But speaking is more human – after all, we’ve been doing it for at least 135,000 years.
Traditional dictation turns speech into text, but leaves you with winding, fragmented text – it transcribes word-for-word, including ums, uhs and stutters.
Essential Voice closes this gap. Long-press the Essential Key or activate Essential Voice on the keyboard. Speak naturally, and your words will be turned into clean, ready-to-use writing. It will automatically tidy up your words, so your text sounds like finished writing – not a transcript. It’s also built into the places you write, so you don’t have to leave your conversation to benefit.
Key Features: Dictation, Translation, and Personal Mappings
Auto-correction: Improves clarity and structure and removes filler words – like ums and uhs.
Personal Mappings: Custom voice shortcuts for words, links, templates and repeated phrases.
Translation Agent: Speak in one language, ask Essential Voice to write text in another.
100+ Languages: Wide language support with auto-detection. You can also select preferred regional variants like Latin American Spanish or Simplified Chinese.
Device Compatibility: When is Essential Voice Available?
Essential Voice launches first on Phone (3) and Phone (4a) Pro, with Phone (4a) following shortly.
Future updates will introduce context awareness, allowing Essential Voice to adapt to where you’re writing – like messages, work emails or searches. We also hope Essential Voice will expand across our ecosystem of smart products as the beginnings of a new, voice-first interface.
