Following on the recent focus on screen time, Roblox has announced that it has selected the members of its first-ever Global Parent Council.
The council, bringing together 80 parents from around the world, spans Australia, North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America, includes three representatives from Australia.
The members bring expertise across psychology, education, digital wellbeing, gaming, and law enforcement to the table. The goal is simple: give parents a direct role in shaping Roblox’s products, policies, and partnerships to better support families.
With online safety front of mind for parents worldwide, the council creates a direct feedback channel between parents and Roblox, reinforcing the company’s continued work to engage families and community members to strengthen safety and civility on the platform.
As Dr Elizabeth Milovidov, Senior Director, Global Parental Advocacy explains:
“I am inspired by the calibre of parents who stepped forward to partner with us.” She added that “the launch of the Global Parent Council demonstrates our commitment to parental partnership, where we intend to listen and learn from these individual parents and caregivers. With their support, we will be able to better respond to parental challenges and we look forward to co‑creating a safe and relevant experience for families everywhere.”
This builds on Roblox’s broader efforts to work directly with parents and communities, including the simultaneous launch of a new Parent Champions group to include even more voices, as well as recent initiatives like its partnership with the Mental Health Coalition’s Thrive, and the release of Youth Guide to Community Standards.
Australian member of the Global Parent Council, Denny Handlin, said:
“As a parent, I think it’s incredibly important for companies to really listen to families when it comes to online safety. The Roblox Global Parent Council brings parents from around the world together to have open, honest conversations about the challenges our kids face online. I’m proud to be part of a group that’s focused on practical solutions, and it’s encouraging to see Roblox taking this seriously and creating space for parents to help make the platform safer and more supportive for our kids.”
