With the 2026 school year in full swing, Australian families are facing a unique challenge: the first full term under the federal under-16 social media ban. As household digital habits shift, Samsung is positioning its ecosystem as a primary solution for parental peace of mind.

Keeping children safe online is a top priority for everyone, and manufacturers are also playing a role in supporting safer digital habits at home.

Samsung’s range of parental controls allow an adult to set rules for how Galaxy devices are used, both available on a specific device or as part of the Family Link app. Key controls include:

Choosing age-appropriate content ratings for web browsing

  • Screen time management across specific apps, as well as the device as a whole
  • Location sharing and monitoring
  • Restricting app access

There is also Samsung Kids, which is an interface available across Galaxy smartphones and tablets, that allows parents and carers to turn their device into a secure, child-friendly space designed for learning, creativity and play. Some key features include:

  • Child-friendly camera and calling tools: A simplified camera app lets children take photos and videos using fun filters and effects, without accessing the main device gallery. A separate calling app also enables children to contact a parent-approved list of trusted numbers.
  • Educational games and activities: A collection of colourful, interactive mini-games combines entertainment with learning, encouraging creativity and problem-solving through adventure-led play. Titles include Crocro’s Friends Village and Lisa’s Music Band.
  • Safe, controlled browsing: An in-built web browser allows parents to pre-approve exactly which websites children can access. Parents can easily manage, monitor, and set boundaries around usage.

These features form part of Samsung’s wider commitment to helping children enjoy technology safely and responsibly. This approach is also reflected in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition, which launched in December and is designed specifically with younger users in mind. The tablet comes with a colourful protective case, a touch pen and a tethering string, as well as a keyring of Samsung animal character, Crocro.

The Tab A11+ Kids Edition is currently on sale, with $100 off as part of Samsung’s back to school sale. This promotion is scheduled to end today, February 4, 2026.
