Sandisk has unveiled a range of next-generation NAND and flash storage technologies at Future of Memory and Storage (FMS) 2026, highlighting the growing role of storage in supporting AI inference workloads.

The company said the rapid growth of larger AI models, longer context windows and agentic AI applications is increasing demand for memory and storage that can deliver greater capacity, bandwidth and power efficiency alongside compute.

AI infrastructure has entered a new phase where the ability to store, move and access data efficiently has become as important as compute itself,” said Sandisk chief product officer Khurram Ismail.

As inference workloads grow, customers need memory and storage technologies that can deliver ideal performance, capacity and power efficiency without adding complexity.

Among the technologies on display is BiCS10 QLC NAND, Sandisk’s latest 3D NAND generation designed to improve storage density, performance and energy efficiency for AI, cloud and data centre deployments.

The company is also showcasing HBF (High Bandwidth Flash), a NAND-based memory technology aimed at addressing the memory bandwidth and capacity challenges associated with large-scale AI inference.

Other demonstrations include enterprise SSDs designed for key-value (KV) cache workloads, future PCIe Gen 6 technology and high-capacity E3.S SSD designs with reduced DRAM placement, as well as an updated version of Sandisk’s AI Data Cycle framework for mapping storage requirements across AI workflows including data lakes, model storage, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and inference.

Sandisk said these technologies are intended to help data centre operators optimise AI infrastructure as storage increasingly becomes a critical component of overall system performance.

The company is also using FMS 2026 to discuss the broader evolution of AI infrastructure. During its keynote, “NAND: The Versatile & Scalable Foundation of the AI Era,” executives will examine how growing AI workloads are reshaping memory and storage architectures and increasing the importance of system-level optimisation.

Sandisk will also join Google and SK hynix in a panel discussion on the development of High Bandwidth Flash technology and the ecosystem required to bring new memory architectures into production AI deployments.

FMS 2026 is being held this week at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California, where Sandisk is exhibiting at Booth #607.
