Kicking off their APAC tour for Synology Solution Day in style, Synology hosted 250 IT leaders in Melbourne to explore innovations in enterprise primary storage, resilient data protection, and secure AI-powered productivity.

Synology’s mission is to build a better world with data,” said Joanne Weng, Director of International Business at Synology. “As AI transforms the way organisations operate, it is crucial for businesses to maintain control and sovereignty over their information. At Solution Day 2025, we showcased solutions that prioritise data autonomy, enabling Australian businesses to make informed decisions, safeguard critical assets, and responsibly leverage technology to drive sustainable outcomes.

Industry Panel on Data Sovereignty and Cyber Resilience

A major highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring leading industry experts, who shared their insights and real-world experiences on how organisations can strengthen their data strategies. Moderated by Nate Cochrane, Founder & Chief Content Officer of Pixntxt Content Lab, the distinguished panellists included:

  • Dr. Edwin R. Lampugnani, Founding Director & CEO of AirHealth
  • Grant Crough, CISO of LEAP Strategies
  • Neil Shan, Managing Director of IT Ecosystems

Accurate, timely health alerts rely on uncompromised data integrity,” said Dr. Lampugnani. “At AirHealth, it’s a privilege to hold citizen data, and safeguarding it is central to our mission – ensuring public trust and enabling government to protect community health.

Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT concern – it’s an issue of survival,” said Grant Crough. “Organisations that fail to build resilience and uphold data sovereignty won’t just face downtime; they risk regulatory penalties, reputational damage, and the irreversible loss of trust.

With many years of experience helping SMBs build reliable IT, Neil Shan added, “As much as businesses understand the value of keeping data on-premises, it’s not always practical for Australian SMBs. But with the right tools, they can still protect critical information, stay compliant, and build resilience.

Dr. Lampugnani added, “Startups like ours face similar challenges. With an easy-to-manage on-premises solution and predictable total cost of ownership, Synology makes it simple to achieve true data sovereignty.

Together, their insights underscored the urgent need for resilient data strategies to safeguard operations and maintain trust in today’s evolving digital economy.

Synology Solution Day 2025 Data Sovereignty Panel

Synology’s Sovereign Innovations in Primary Storage and AI Productivity

Synology unveiled its enterprise storage solutions, including the high-performance PAS Series with active-active dual controllers and end-to-end NVMe technology, and the preview of DSM 7.3, which emphasises enhanced security measures and storage efficiency. Moreover, beyond Synology’s Office Suite with real-time collaboration tools, Synology has introduced a new unified communication platform with integrated messaging and video conferencing, and showcases AI-driven productivity tools for document management, all controlled through the Synology AI Console. Businesses can enhance these tools with on-premises AI server integration and custom AI agents to optimise workflows.

Synology’s growth from a prosumer and SMB storage vendor into a full-scale enterprise solution provider reflects the rising demand for secure, resilient, and AI-ready infrastructure,” said Joanne Weng. “At Synology Solution Day Australia, conversations with our partners and clients reinforced how critical data control, security, and responsible AI adoption have become. The ANZ region is at the forefront of these shifts, and our priority is to equip IT teams with solutions that simplify management while enabling businesses to stay secure, independent, and future-ready.

Celebrating Partners Driving Synology’s Growth in ANZ

The day concluded with a gala dinner celebrating Synology’s local partners and distributors, whose support has been instrumental in expanding Synology’s footprint in the ANZ market. Distributors Bluechip Infotech, Multimedia Technology, and Silicon Memory Technology were recognised for their vital contributions, alongside Gold partners CompNow and LEAP Strategies, whose ongoing support continues to help businesses across the region adopt Synology’s solutions effectively.

DRN’s thoughts

Synology Solution Day is always an event worth attending. I remember when early on when it was just an hour or two of briefing, before the push into the enterprise space. Now it is a 4 hour production with a Energiser bunny MC.

It is always great to mingle around the crowd and the products, and Synology puts on a good spread of canapes and drinks.

There is a lot going on in the Synology space, and not surprisingly AI features in their solutions. But this is not a gimmicky shoe horn fit of AI. The team demonstrated just one facet of how Synology is using AI on their UC platforms ChatPlus and Meet, with live transcript and live translation from Mandarin to English in real time. It was certainly an attention grabbing moment of the afternoon.

It was no surprise to me (although it might have been for others), Synology is also launching their own PoE switches to dovetail into their growing surveillance camera products.

The future is looking bright over at Synology, can’t wait to see how these products deliver real gains.

Lastly on the topic of data sovereignty, I want to point out that the panel really only touched on the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to it once you start looking.
