In the 2026 Gartner Voice of the Customer report for Backup and Data Protection Platforms, Synology has been recognised as a “Strong Performer”. The company reporting a 98% willingness-to-recommend rating from verified enterprise IT users.

The recognition highlights growing enterprise adoption of Synology’s ActiveProtect platform, which the company positions as a simplified and cost-effective alternative to traditional backup and data protection systems.

According to Synology, more than 31 million enterprise workloads worldwide are currently protected using its data protection solutions. The company also reported an overall customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 based on Gartner Peer Insights reviews as of December 31, 2025.

“Synology’s recognition in this report underscores the strong market momentum ActiveProtect has built since its launch,” said Jia-Yu Liu, Executive Vice President of the Synology Data Protection Group.

As cyber threats and infrastructure complexity evolve, organisations are seeking simplified and cost-effective ways to safeguard their data. This shift is driving a clear trend where ActiveProtect replaces traditional and disaggregated solutions to provide a more streamlined approach to data protection.

The Gartner Voice of the Customer report aggregates verified end-user feedback and purchasing experiences across the backup and data protection software market. Synology said feedback was collected from 55 verified enterprise users of its solutions.

The announcement comes amid increasing enterprise demand for cyber resilience, ransomware recovery capabilities, and simplified backup infrastructure as organisations modernise hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

Synology has continued expanding its enterprise data protection portfolio in recent years, with ActiveProtect forming a key part of the company’s broader push into enterprise infrastructure and backup management.
