Sometimes getting (a) ZERO isn’t too bad… and when it comes from Promise Technology, whose NAS products have been a favourite on our editorial team, this will be a box to look out for.
Particularly if all that NAS and RAID stuff is too finicky to set up for you as the ZERO stands for zero configuration! The picture on the left shows a prototype when it initially was still called SmartStor SNS — Simple Network Storage.
We’ll see if that is really true in a few weeks time.
In the meantime, Promise have just released the NS4600 SR1. That stands for Service Release 1, by the way, which means better performance and lots of new features. We may expand on our NS4600 experiences sometime later as well.
