To a crowd of around 100 industry and consumer NAS aficionados, the Synology Australia team launched the latest iteration of their DiskStation Manager software: DSM 4.3
While the release of DSM 4.3 is still a few weeks away, the Synology team ran through a number of new features that will be included including speedy Offload Data Transfer (ODX) technology, the new and improved PhotoStation 6 with updated GUI and features. The Mail Server also received enhancements with automatic BCC and new anti-virus and SPAM filtering tools.
DSM 4.3 also brings TRIM support for the SSD set as well as HFS+ and Windows DFS and Symbolic links to improve file sharing capabilities.
Among other updates, CloudStation now supports selective syncing capabilities and a claimed 30% improvement in data transfers and “changed block” historical version file saving.
While the event focused on the new DSM version, also on display was the upcoming RS214 and DS214 NAS devices.
In The coming weeks we have reviews of the RS812+ and RX410 followed by the upcoming RS214 which should give us an opportunity to take a closer look at the new DSM in greater detail.
