Amazon has refreshed two of its biggest device families in Australia, unveiling a redesigned Kindle lineup alongside a faster Fire TV Stick 4K and upgraded Fire TV Remote.
The new Kindle family introduces thinner and lighter designs across the standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft, while also expanding Amazon’s colour palette with finishes including Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green, Graphite and Fig.
Amazon has also introduced several new Kindle accessories, including its Kindle Click Bluetooth page-turning remote, a Page-Turn Cover with physical buttons and a Charging Dock for compatible Signature Edition models.
Kindle gets a redesign
The entry-level Kindle remains a 6-inch reader, but moves to a new flush-front design and is claimed to open books up to 30 per cent faster than the previous generation.
The standard model includes 16GB of storage and up to six weeks of battery life, with pricing starting at A$279 in Ube and Graphite.
Amazon is also offering an aluminium-backed version for the first time. It increases storage to 32GB and comes in Alpine Sky or Seaglass Green for A$299.
The new Kindle models are available in Australia now.
Kindle Paperwhite
The new Kindle Paperwhite is thinner and lighter than the previous model while retaining waterproofing and an adjustable warm front light.
Amazon claims up to 12 weeks of battery life from a single charge.
The standard Paperwhite includes 16GB of storage and starts at A$369 in Graphite.
The A$399 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition steps up to 32GB of storage and adds an aluminium rear housing, auto-adjusting front light, charging through pogo pins and a new double-tap gesture for turning pages.
It will be available in Graphite and Seaglass Green.
Kindle Colorsoft expands Amazon’s colour e-reader range
Amazon is also refreshing Kindle Colorsoft, its colour-screen e-reader designed for content such as book covers, comics, graphic novels and travel guides.
The standard Kindle Colorsoft includes 16GB of storage and starts at A$449 in Graphite.
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition costs A$499 and includes 32GB of storage, an aluminium body, auto-adjusting front light, pogo-pin charging and double-tap page turning.
It will be available in Graphite and Fig.
New Kindle accessories
Amazon is launching several accessories alongside the refreshed readers.

- Page-Turn Cover – A$119.95: a magnetic cover with physical page-turn buttons for Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition.
- Charging Dock – A$89.95: a stand that keeps compatible Signature Edition models upright while charging via pogo pins.
- Kindle Covers – from A$54.95: available in knit fabric, plant-based leather and pebbled premium leather finishes.
The standard Kindle models are available now, while Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Colorsoft and compatible accessories are available for pre-order in Australia.
Fire TV Stick 4K gets faster and easier to hide
Amazon has also announced a new Fire TV Stick 4K, updating its streaming hardware with improved performance, Wi-Fi 6 and a significantly more convenient power arrangement.
The new model supports 4K playback and is faster than the previous Fire TV Stick 4K Select.
One of the more useful changes is what Amazon calls Direct Power.
Instead of requiring a wall adaptor, the Fire TV Stick 4K can draw power directly from a compatible television’s USB port using the included cable.
That should make installations cleaner, particularly for wall-mounted televisions, while also making the Fire TV Stick easier to throw into a bag when travelling.
Alexa+ Early Access and Amazon’s latest Fire TV interface are also built in, allowing natural-language searches across streaming apps and personalised recommendations.
The new Fire TV Stick 4K is priced at A$129 and begins shipping today through Amazon Australia and JB Hi-Fi.
Fire TV Remote gets more useful buttons
Amazon is also redesigning the Fire TV Remote with more tactile controls intended to make buttons easier to locate without looking down.
A customisable star button, previously reserved for Amazon’s more premium remote, can be assigned to launch a favourite app or toggle accessibility features such as closed captioning and Screen Magnifier.
The new Fire TV Remote costs A$24.95 and is available for pre-order, with Australian shipping beginning on 22 October 2026.
Between the Kindle redesign and the Fire TV update, Amazon’s latest device refresh is less about introducing entirely new categories and more about removing everyday annoyances: lighter readers, easier page turning, cleaner charging and a streaming stick that no longer necessarily needs another power point behind the television.
