Last week I was a guest of Epson Australia where I got to see the latest Epson devices in action, all against a stunning backdrop overlooking Sydney harbour in their new North Sydney office.
A key message from the “New Beginnings for a Brighter Future” event was Epson’s commitment to sustainability. This includes the transition of all Epson locations to renewable energy, a feat achieved in 2023 – well ahead of the average target year of 2050 among RE100 global manufacturing companies. Epson has also partnered with Maersk to reduce emissions with sea freight by using bio diesel.
Heat-Free A3 WorkForce Pro multi-function printers
The launch of Epson’s new WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 multi-function printers reinforces their commitment to sustainable business solutions. Both new devices are powered by its innovative, ultra-efficient PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology.
The versatile 25 ppm EM-C8100 A3 multi-function printer is ideal as either the main print device for smaller businesses or as a workgroup device for larger operations. The EM-C8101 is best suited where a higher volume of scanning is required.
As more employees return to the office in 2025 the EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 are designed to meet the growing demands of small and medium businesses who do not need finishing options but who value productivity, and maximum uptime while generating as little waste as possible.
Equipped with Epson’s PrecisionCore Heat-Free printhead technology, which is standard across all Epson business inkjet devices, they deliver Epson’s renowned, industry-leading print quality at fast speeds. With high ink yields and fewer maintenance requirements, these devices require less upkeep and intervention compared to toner-based devices.
Epson business inkjet products have placed emphasis on energy efficient solutions. As such these two new products provide more sustainable, economical print solutions for organisations that are becoming increasingly aware of their carbon footprint, while at the same time seeking ways to reduce operating expenses.
The WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 also provide industry-leading high ink yields delivering up to 86,000 pages in black and up to 50,000 pages in colour. This means minimal staff disruptions to change inks. Combining these ink yields with fast print out times and zero warm up make a very compelling, efficient and low cost of ownership proposition.
The WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and the EM-C8101 are scheduled to begin shipping in Australia and New Zealand from May 2025.
The team at Epson made a very compelling demonstration of the PrecisionCore Heat-Free Techology. The team had an A4 PrecisionCore machine and an equivalent A4 laser printer of a brand that rhymes with Hewitt hooked up to an NRG Vault PV500 Portable Power Station.
With the NRG Vault limited to 500W output, the Epson PrecisionCore was powered on from a cold start and printed out a two page document. When it came to the laser printer, the start up sequence tripped the overload protection. FLIR readings also shows the print outs from the PrecisionCore printers are stone cold, whereas there was still substantial residue heat from the laser printer.
EH-QL3000 professional 4K home laser projector
With the new Epson EH-QL3000, you no longer need a dedicated theatre to watch theatre.
Whether its watching movies, sports or gaming, the EH-QL3000 is a new, high-end lifestyle projector that brings an immersive, professional quality and vibrant experience to turn any space – from dedicated media spaces to well-lit living areas – into a cinema, delivering cutting edge technology and bright images in a compact and easy to set up design.
The EH-QL3000 is powered by advanced 3LCD laser technology to deliver 4K super resolution images (3840 x 2160) up to an incredible 1,000 inches.
With up to 6,000 lumens of colour and white brightness the projector is the brightest model in Epson’s home theatre range. It produces a truly immersive picture in a wide variety of lighting environments without restricting installation and is ideal for rooms with ambient light such as entertainment rooms and open living areas.
With a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for well-defined shadows and even deeper blacks, this professional home projector also features a range of advanced image enhancement technologies, such as 4K frame interpolation to ensure smooth images and super resolution to preserve detail in every scene.
The EH-QL3000 produces a truly stunning picture quality thanks to its 4K display technology2 with HDR10 which produces a full 8.3 million pixels on-screen for an exceptionally clear 4K UHD experience. Then, thanks to Epson’s advanced 4K image processing chip, you can enhance any movie screening or game simulation into an enthralling experience and other advanced features such as Dynamic Tone Mapping enhance visual quality on a frame-by-frame basis.
With HDMI 2.1 connectivity, a 4K/120hz refresh and Auto Low Latency Mode, the EH-QL3000 also offers a smooth gaming experience, while spectacular image quality and large screen size makes it ideal for sport simulation.
The EH-QL3000 is compatible with a wide range of interchangeable lenses and can be easily configured to provide the desired image size, at optimal quality, in any media space. Options such as an ultra-short throw, zero-offset lens that allows the EH-QL3000 to be discreetly installed on surfaces such as ceilings are also included. The interchangeable lenses also mean that the throw distance can be adjusted easily to project images from different distances without moving the projector.
Compatible with a wide range of IP control systems, the new projector can be integrated with existing installations and offers many other benefits, such as simple customisation. The motorised lens shift with large range, coupled with motorised zoom and focus, makes the projector fast and easy to set up, while its near-instant warm-up and cool-down times contributes to its outstanding convenience, energy-efficiency and long (20,000 hour) laser life.
Plus, integrated Crestron, Control4 and RS232C/wired LAN support means the EH-QL3000 can be easily integrated into a smart home network to give an even more convenient viewing experience.

The Epson team demonstrated the capabilities of this beast with a scene from Top Gun: Maverick. The part where Mav proves the mission can be done (and bending the airframe at 10G at the end – kids don’t try this at home). This scene was selected for the many dynamic changes in scenes, from inside the cockpit and the hot desert backdrop. The point was to demonstrate the EH-QL3000’s ability to show details in the most demanding of scenes and it certainly did not disappoint. Honestly I would have been happy to set up camp and watched the whole movie again.
DRN would like to thank Epson for hosting us at their “New beginnings for a brighter future” event. There are certainly many exciting things coming up.
