Deploying network connectivity outdoors, across large floor spaces, in historical buildings, or across extended ranges without sufficient power outlets has long been a challenge for SMBs and MSPs.

The new Zyxel PoE12-3PD offers network flexibility and simplicity, designed to help organisations overcome network deployment challenges over long distances and power limitations. This extender enhances network flexibility for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and managed service providers (MSPs).

While most PoE switch deployments can simplify cabling infrastructures, network performance is often bound by a cable distance limitation of 100 meters. Zyxel Networks’ new PoE12-3PD offers an efficient and cost-effective solution to extend network coverage beyond the 100-meter boundary, providing seamless connectivity in both indoor and outdoor scenarios.

Extending networks with ease

The PoE12-3PD is designed as a simple plug-and-play solution, similar to an extension cord, which transmits both data and power to the edge of networks. Just by connecting the PoE++ uplink port to a PoE switch, which offers up to 60W of power, the extender can deliver a total power budget of up to 45W through three PoE+ downlink ports. It allows for point-to-multipoint PoE applications, connecting various PoE clients such as IP cameras, access control systems, IoT devices, smart home devices and sensors typically installed outdoors or at a building’s hard-to-reach corners.

Once installed, users can monitor their network status through Zyxel Networks’ Nebula Control Center. This platform offers a single-pane-of-glass monitoring experience for the entire network and is accessible via the web and a mobile app, to help users save time and effort. With the mobility of Nebula Cloud Center, troubleshooting the network can be easier than ever.

Designed to provide uninterrupted services, the PoE12-3PD’s Continuous PoE feature minimizes maintenance downtime and its network impact by offering power even during power cycle and firmware upgrades.

Robust design

The robust design makes it ideal for outdoor and industrial environments. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C and will remain operational in 50°C heat. The PoE12-3PD can be used on both wall mounts and pole-mounts, and features an IP55 enclosure, 6KV surge protection, and a grounding cable. The PoE12-3PD is delivered in plastic-free packaging, as part of Zyxel Networks’ drive to reduce waste and its carbon footprint.

The PoE12-3PD is testament to the dedication we put in to solving real-world challenges faced by our customers. Many smaller businesses prepare themselves for expansion, but often find moving to bigger offices can cause connectivity headaches,” said Mr. Gary Chen, ANZ regional head at Zyxel Networks. “That is why we have developed a plug-and-play solution that empowers SMBs and MSPs to deploy networks in complex environments with ease and confidence.
