Synology has unveiled the DVA7400, its new flagship Deep Learning Analytics (DVA) appliance, designed to bring AI-powered video surveillance entirely on-premises for organisations managing large-scale security deployments.
Built for enterprises, government agencies and multi-site organisations, the 2U rackmount appliance combines centralised surveillance management with real-time AI video analytics, allowing businesses to analyse up to 100 camera streams while maintaining complete ownership of their surveillance data.
Rather than relying on cloud processing, every recording, AI analysis and metadata index remains within the organisation’s own infrastructure, helping address increasingly stringent privacy, compliance and data sovereignty requirements.
Built for Large Enterprise Surveillance
At the heart of the DVA7400 is Synology’s Surveillance Station platform, enhanced with dedicated AI acceleration capable of running up to **40 simultaneous deep learning analytics tasks** across 100 high-resolution camera feeds.
The appliance also acts as the central management server for Synology’s Central Management System (CMS), enabling administrators to oversee surveillance servers and camera deployments across multiple locations from a single interface.
According to Synology Surveillance Group Director Josh Lin, the appliance reflects nearly two decades of development in enterprise surveillance.
“The DVA7400 represents the culmination of Synology’s nearly two decades of expertise in physical security,” Lin said. “By combining centralised management for distributed camera fleets with completely localised AI analytics, it empowers enterprises to scale their surveillance infrastructure without compromising on data privacy.”
AI That Makes Investigations Faster
One of the DVA7400’s most significant additions is Semantic Video Search, allowing security teams to search archived footage using natural language rather than manually reviewing hours of recordings.
Instead of locating incidents by scrolling through timelines, operators can search for events or people using descriptive text, dramatically reducing investigation times.
Synology says these searches are handled by a dedicated hardware accelerator, allowing the appliance to continue processing all real-time AI analytics without impacting live surveillance performance.
Additional investigation tools include:
- Attribute Search to locate people or vehicles based on characteristics such as clothing colour or vehicle type.
- Automatic License Plate Recognition for vehicle access management.
- Find Repeated Objects, designed to reconstruct an individual’s movement across multiple cameras and locations.
These complement Synology’s existing real-time analytics capabilities, including:

Extending the Life of Existing Camera Fleets
