With the new Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) platform, the Synology Surveillance365 is designed to make it easier for organisations to deploy, manage and scale enterprise-grade security systems across multiple locations without the complexity of traditional on-premises infrastructure.
The new platform completes Synology’s long-term surveillance ecosystem, bringing together cameras, video management, AI analytics, storage, backup and cloud services into a single integrated solution managed by one vendor.
Enterprise surveillance without the infrastructure burden
Designed for businesses operating across multiple sites, Surveillance365 removes many of the traditional deployment challenges associated with enterprise surveillance systems.
Compatible Synology Cameras can be enrolled in as little as two minutes, with the Surveillance365 Standard Plan available at no additional cost. Cameras can then be managed centrally through a web portal or mobile application without requiring dedicated servers or ongoing IT administration.
According to Synology, the platform is suited to environments such as retail chains, construction sites, warehouses and organisations managing geographically dispersed offices.
“Ever since we introduced Surveillance Station in 2008, our vision has been to build a private, fully integrated surveillance ecosystem spanning cameras, NVRs, VMS, storage, backup, AI analytics, and cloud, all engineered by one vendor. Today, Surveillance365 completes that vision,” said Philip Wong, Chairman and CEO of Synology.
AI processing happens on the camera
Rather than sending every video stream to the cloud for analysis, Surveillance365 performs AI processing directly on compatible Synology Cameras.
Supported intelligent detection features include:
- People Detection
- Vehicle Detection
- Intrusion Detection
- Loitering Detection
By processing events locally, the platform delivers faster alerts while significantly reducing cloud bandwidth requirements.
Video is recorded directly to onboard microSD storage, while live viewing prioritises peer-to-peer local connections whenever possible. Synology says its optional Low Bandwidth Mode can reduce bandwidth consumption by up to 50 percent with only minimal impact on image quality.
Built with security and compliance in mind
For organisations operating in regulated industries or government environments, Synology says all compatible cameras are both NDAA and TAA compliant, helping satisfy procurement requirements where approved hardware is mandatory.
The optional Surveillance365 Business Plan adds enterprise administration features including:
- Granular user permission profiles
- Site-level camera management
- Comprehensive audit logging
- Centralised administration for distributed teams
Account access is protected using multi-factor authentication, while encryption keys remain exclusively under the control of the account owner through Synology’s C2 Encryption Key architecture.
Flexible cloud backup options
Businesses wanting additional resilience can optionally back up recordings to Synology C2 OneStorage.
Backup options include both continuous and event-based recording, with retention periods ranging from 45 days to 3,650 days. The cloud backup service also supports existing Surveillance Station deployments running on Synology NAS devices.
“Whether overseeing retail chains, construction sites, or global corporate offices, organisations can scale their security footprint instantly through Surveillance365 without the burden of managing physical infrastructure,” said Josh Lin, Director of Synology’s Surveillance Group.
