TCL has expanded its Australian display range with the launch of four new Mini LED gaming monitors, headlined by the flagship TCL 32R84.
The 32R84 combines a 32-inch 4K panel with TCL’s QD-Mini LED technology, bringing display features commonly associated with the company’s premium televisions to a desktop gaming monitor.
The broader range also includes the 32-inch TCL 32G64, 27-inch TCL 27G64 and the more affordable 25-inch TCL 25G54.
TV-Grade Display Technology for the Desktop
TCL is positioning the 32R84 as its most advanced gaming monitor released in Australia to date.
The monitor uses 1,400 local dimming zones to provide more precise control over bright and dark areas of the image. It can also reach a claimed peak brightness of 1,400 nits, helping highlights such as explosions, lighting effects and reflections stand out without excessively brightening surrounding areas.
According to TCL, the technology is designed to produce deeper blacks while reducing the haloing that can appear around bright objects on conventional backlit displays.
The panel also covers a claimed 95 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, using quantum dot technology to deliver richer and more accurate colours.
This combination should make the 32R84 particularly suited to visually detailed AAA games, where shadow detail, contrast and colour accuracy can be as important as responsiveness.
“The 32R84 is proof that TCL’s TV-grade display technology doesn’t stop at the living room,” said Hawke Zhang, Managing Director of TCL Electronics Australia and New Zealand.
“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned building QD-Mini LED into our television range and applied it to a category purpose-built for gamers, and this is just the start of our push into premium gaming displays.”
4K Gaming at Up to 165Hz
Alongside its focus on picture quality, the TCL 32R84 offers a refresh rate of up to 165Hz and a claimed 1ms response time.
The higher refresh rate should provide smoother movement and greater responsiveness than a standard 60Hz monitor, particularly in competitive shooters, racing games and other fast-paced titles.
At the same time, the 4K resolution gives players more visual detail than QHD or Full HD alternatives, provided their gaming system has enough graphical performance to drive games at the higher resolution.
TCL says the combination allows the monitor to move between competitive gaming and slower, cinematic single-player experiences without forcing users to choose between speed and image quality.
USB-C Connectivity for Laptops
The 32R84 also includes USB-C connectivity with up to 65W power delivery.
This allows compatible laptops to connect to the monitor, transmit video and receive power through a single cable, potentially reducing the number of chargers and cables required on a desk.
The feature may also broaden the monitor’s appeal beyond dedicated gaming desktops, particularly for users who switch between a personal gaming computer and a work laptop.
TCL’s New Australian Gaming Monitor Range
Sitting below the 32R84 are two QHD QD-Mini LED models.
The TCL 32G64 offers a 32-inch QHD display for $799, while the smaller TCL 27G64 provides the same resolution in a 27-inch form factor for $699.
For buyers looking for a more affordable entry point, the TCL 25G54 uses a 25-inch Full HD panel with Mini LED backlighting and carries an Australian RRP of $499.
While the three lower-priced models do not match the flagship’s 4K resolution or full feature set, they give TCL a broader range of options across different screen sizes, resolutions and budgets.

The 32R84 marks a significant step into the premium monitor market for TCL, combining the company’s Mini LED television experience with gaming-focused performance and desktop connectivity.
Its $1,599 price places it firmly among premium gaming monitors, but the 4K resolution, 1,400-zone backlight, 1,400-nit peak brightness and 165Hz refresh rate give it a specification sheet designed to compete with established high-end gaming display brands.
