Owlet Smart Sock V3Smart and IoT devices permeates our modern lives, some definitely make our lives easier. Owlet Baby Care is a Utah-based technology company passionate about empowering parents with technology that enhances their parenting journey.

The third generation of the Owlet Baby Care Smart Sock baby monitor is 5 years in development and taking feedback from thousands of parents. The new Smart Sock 3 tracks the information that matters the most to parents – a baby’s heart rate and oxygen level – to let parents know when their baby needs them most.

Research conducted by Owlet in partnership with Lux Research, revealed that nearly 70% of new parents state that they currently wake up frequently during the night to check on their baby, even when he/she is not crying. Owlet’s global research also showed that 74% have poor quality of sleep, as a result of the anxiety of being a new parent. In addition, nearly 2 in 5 parents (37%) are kept up worrying about their babies breathing properly with a further 52% worrying their baby will need to be fed.

From personal experience (and as someone who can sleep anywhere, any time, in virtually any environment), my sleeping pattern changed immensely when I had my newborns. I find myself extremely attuned to the baby’s cries and noises, and would snap awake immediately to check on them.

Owlet’s redesigned Smart Sock 3 now fits smaller newborns and larger babies, from 5lbs (2.26kg) to 30lbs (13.6kg), allowing parents to track tiny babies as soon as they come home from the hospital. The new Smart Sock 3 continues to track the baby’s heart rate and oxygen through gentle motion, with an improved tracking frequency of 97% during an 8-hour session. Enhanced wireless charging now delivers a fully charged Smart Sock in just 90 minutes, with a battery life of 16 hours. The Smart Sock 3 also allows parents to snooze Base Station notifications for more customised monitoring.

Owlet Baby Care“Parents naturally worry about their newborns, but it is proving to keep them up at night. We care about keeping every baby safe and every parent sane. Parents of newborns should be able to sleep soundly knowing their baby is okay,” said Sanjay De, General Manager at Owlet, Europe and Asia Pacific. “We designed the Smart Sock to help parents get their life and freedom back. Since the launch of our very first Smart Sock, we have tracked over 600,000 babies and more than one million parents have credited Owlet with helping them keep their babies safe.”

“As a company, Owlet is constantly striving to do better, which is what inspired us to create the newest Smart Sock 3,” says Zack Bomsta, Owlet’s Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder. “Based on real feedback from parents, we’ve redesigned the Smart Sock with updated technology and product enhancements like greater size flexibility, better accuracy and nuanced notification settings. It’s more user friendly and we believe it will become must-have for all parents.”

Since its introduction seven years ago, 96% of parents using the Smart Sock say that they’ve felt less anxious, and 94% of parents have reported better sleep quality while using the Sock on their baby.

The third generation Smart Sock is available beginning today for AUD$479.99 at Owletcare.com.au and will be rolling out nationally to local retailers simultaneously.

Here at DRN, our goal is always to bring reviews of product as a result from our daily use. We are very excited to say, stay tune for our thoughts on the Owlet Smart Sock V3. We will be putting this one to the test as soon as our baby comes into the world.
