Jabra Extreme 2The third and last of the current crop of Jabra gadgets on the DigitalReviews desk before Christmas is the Jabra EXTREME 2 bluetooth headset.

Both the Drive and Supreme rated highly, let’s see how the Extreme 2 performs.

First Impressions
The Jabra Extreme 2 is aptly named, it is extremely small!  Standing it up right it is only a few millimeters longer than a standard Lego minifig.  Width wise it is about half an arm width to either side of the Lego minifig.  Where I thought the Supreme looked geeky, the Extreme 2 is small, stylish and with the patterened main cover look a little futuristic.  The entire unit is in matt black with the exception of a small silver call answer button.  If the Extreme 2 is worn on the right ear, then the power button is on the bottom of the unit and the volume control on top.

Getting paired up to my phone and using the Extreme 2 was smooth sailing, something I was pleased to see after the issues I had with the Supreme.  As is with the current crop of the Jabra devices, connectivity between my phone and the Extreme 2 is fast.  Again I used the headset in my standard work pattern, phone calls within a shared office environment, in transit between sites and the occasional conversation standing out the front of my office.  The sound quality is superb and the Noise Blackout 3.0 technology works a treat.

The Voice Guidance is a standard feature now, providing all the necessary information such as Caller ID, battery level and status.

Other Features
The Jabra Extreme 2 supports High Definition Voice technology promising crisp high quality sound.  Unfortunately for me my current phone does not support HD voice altthough my provider does.

Aside from the excellent build quality, Jabra has put a lot of thought into this overall package.  The USB connector plays double duty as a headset holder, and excellent idea to reduce wiring mess and make it easier to know exactly where your Extreme 2 is when it is charging.
