The DDPAI Z50 Pro: A Budget-Friendly Essential for Aussie Roads
A budget friendly, feature rich and easy to use dashcam providing quality video footage of all your adventures. The DDPAI Z50 Pro is a dashcam fit for all, even life in the bush.
Over the past few years, I’ve often had moments where I’ve regretted not having the peace of mind of a dashcam fitted in my vehicle.
This month, I finally decided it to was time to see what all the fuss was about. This came after having my lightbar and various accessories stolen off my vehicle!
Although not under ideal circumstances, I do now understand the importance of having suitable devices available. As a young adult living in rural NSW trying to balance working and studying full time, it was vital that l would be able to find a suitable yet affordable dashcam.
Luckily, the DDPAI Z50 PRO exists! If you’re after a device that to put it simply, ‘gives you more bang for your buck’, then this dashcam is for you.
Unboxing and Simple Setup for Every Driver

l live rurally with minimal access to an auto electrician and decided that tearing apart the interior of my 4WD may not be the greatest of ideas. Therefore, whilst testing out my new dashcam it had not been hardwired, nor had the rear camera been fitted. Thankfully, this camera has the option to connect to your vehicle through a car charger, providing an easy and quick set up.
Star of the Show: The DDPAI Z50 Pro Dashcam Display
I personally prefer to have the option to see what my dashcam is capturing. The style of this particular dashcam suits my preference perfectly. Featuring a 3” IPS Display, this camera sits neatly behind your rearview mirror. A great size to ensure full visual display whilst not obstructing your view whilst driving.
Whilst not reflecting the view of the camera, the home screen is customisable to your liking. I personally have the home screen set to the date and time for a non-distracting view. Available in the app settings, you can switch between this screen and various other displays. This includes shuffling between emojis and faces. I do have to admit that seeing a face blowing kisses and winking at me did initially catch me off guard after a 12 hour shift, luckily I wasn’t hallucinating!
Night Vision and 4K+1080P Dual-Channel Performance
So, what do you get out of this dashcam in comparison to others on the market?
Key characteristics such as 24/7 Parking Monitoring, Built-in GPS & ADAS, 4G Connectivity and a suitable display (3″ IPS Display) are all expected features of most modern dash cams.
My favourite features however? The added bonus of the 4K + 1080P Dual-Channel, Night vision (NightVIS 2.0 with AI ISP) and a 6 High-Speed Wi-Fi Transfer Supercapacitor really make this device worth your while. I don’t know about you, but I am not too fond of having to spend hundreds of extra dollars just to see night time dash cam footage …
As seen in the above photo, the night sky and stars are seen in just as good of quality as the road. I know first hand that when my spotlights are on, it makes it rather difficult to see the intricacies of the sky with my own eyes. The quality of images absolutely exceeded my expectations.
DDPAI App: Connectivity and Remote Access Bonuses
As if wasn’t already thoroughly impressed by the quality of the dash cam, I saw the bonuses which the associated DDPAI app brings to the table.
The app is simple to navigate, with three main pages and clear direction on how to access your dashcams features. As someone who is not very technologically advanced to put it simply, I truly was able to install and operate both the dashcam and the app with ease.
I’ve not yet been able to fully enjoy the benefits of the app due to the camera not being hardwired. This is due to the majority of access to the cameras past footage, current recording and photos only being accessible whilst the car is running. I look forward to being able to access the remote access 24/7 recording feature very soon after the instalment of the dashcam hardwire kit which DDPAI so kindly sent me along with the dashcam kit.
The remote Live View, instant alerts, capability to remotely wake up your dashcam and capture snapshots instantly of both rear and front cameras sure would’ve come in handy before I was minus my light bar!
The device supports up to 2 days of dual-channel time-lapse recording. Capturing front and rear views to provide comprehensive coverage while minimizing power consumption during extended parking. With the IPS power management system, vehicle voltage can be detected intelligently to avoid draining the vehicle battery. The hardwire kit is required for this function, another reason to add the hardwire kit to your purchase!
Collision Detection Mode fit for even the wildest of collisions!
Living in the bush means you often will encounter various animals, dodgy roads and questionable drivers. My personal track record of hitting anything from a cow to a wombat truly shows the versatility of Australia’s road obstacles.
This 4k dashcam has the added bonus of automatically triggeringhigh-definition recording upon detecting any impact. The capability of capturing critical moments whilst on and off the road safeguards your vehicle, even when unattended. Left your vehicle in a questionable parking spot or dodgy part of town? Stress less, the Z50 Pro has your vehicle covered.
Advanced Tech Specs and Driving Safety Alerts
SD Card compatibility ensures you can maximise your storage with a 512GB MicroSD card. The rewrite feature ensures once your card is full, it will continue to rewrite into infinity… and beyond.
ADAS 2.0 Driving Assistance means a safer driving experience, with real time safety alerts and setting personalisation to ensure you arrive at your destination. The added bonus of Driver fatigue alert and forward vehicle start alert provide lifesaving technology – features I think every dashcam on the market should include.
Smart Voice Control
Great news – saying ‘Take Photo’ helps easily capture moments, with an automatically saved 10-second video, including 5 seconds before and 5 seconds after the snapshot. I’ll try to remember to scream this phrase next time there’s a cow on the road!
Quick Bluetooth Connection
Once paired, the Bluetooth connects instantly to the dashcam’s Wi-Fi. Which means you can now access quick playback, download footage, and share videos of your adventures.
Final Verdict: DDPAI Z50 Pro is Your Budget-Friendly Co-Pilot
This dashcam won’t mow your lawns or cook you a steak dinner, but it makes damn sure that it’ll capture your adventures big or small. Sure, it’s not the fanciest or sleekest device on the market. If you’re like me, and need a device that’s fit for purpose, not difficult to operate and just gets the job done, then the DDPAI Z50 Pro is your match made in heaven.
The quality exceeds the price point and I’m genuinely keen to recommend this to everyone. The versatility of the app functions makes matching the device to your preference a breeze. Who can say no to a bargain after all?
But wait, there’s more! The DDPAI Z50 Pro is getting a 25% off for Black Friday deals on Amazon Au, valid between 18 November until 1 December 2025.
DRN would like to thank DDPAI for providing the review unit.
