If you’re one of the tens of thousands of Australians who have picked up a Nintendo Switch 2 since its launch in June, or one of the many more likely to unwrap one this Christmas, you have probably already realised it is not something you want rattling around unprotected in a backpack.

The Switch 2 is not cheap to replace, even when discounted, and once you factor in games and accessories, protecting your investment quickly becomes a sensible move rather than an optional extra. Particularly if it is travelling with you.

That’s where Belkin steps in, offering a TemperedGlass Anti-Reflective Screen Protector and two travel-focused cases designed specifically for the Switch 2. The Gaming Travel Case and the Charging Travel Case share the same core design and materials, but target slightly different types of players.

Editor-in-chief note: This review was conducted by Bucks, but I am going to weave in some thoughts from Tomoe and noted appropriately below.

Belkin TemperedGlass Anti-Reflective Screen Protector: Clarity and Durability

Before we even get to comparing the cases, the most exposed part of the Nintendo Switch 2 is its screen. It is the surface that gets touched, wiped, packed against zips and cables, and inevitably picks up fingerprints along the way.

The protector uses tempered glass rather than plastic film, giving it a more solid feel once applied and better resistance to scratches from keys, grit, or repeated cleaning. It sits flush with the Switch 2’s display and, once installed, is barely noticeable during use.

As the name suggests, the standout feature here is the anti-reflective coating. In practice, it does a good job of reducing glare under bright indoor lighting and when gaming near windows or outdoors. It does not eliminate reflections entirely, but it noticeably cuts down harsh light without dulling colours or reducing screen clarity.

Touch sensitivity remains intact, with no noticeable delay or loss of responsiveness when navigating menus or gaming. Fingerprints are still possible, but they are less obvious than on the bare screen and easier to wipe away.

Installation is fairly straightforward, with the rigid glass making alignment easier than flexible film protectors. Belkin includes a plastic screen guide that fits over the Switch 2 display, helping ensure correct placement. As long as you take your time and work in a dust-free space, it is easy to achieve a clean result without bubbles.

One thing to keep in mind is that the screen guide itself can pick up dust. During installation, it tracked a small amount of debris onto the screen, meaning a bit of extra cleaning was needed before final placement. Keeping the included dust removal tools close at hand is a good idea.

Once installed, it is mostly a matter of pushing any remaining air bubbles out toward the edges of the screen. I was able to remove around 99 percent of them within a couple of minutes, with only a few very small bubbles remaining. These will likely disappear over time with normal use and a bit of heat. As always, final results largely come down to how carefully the protector is applied.

A Parent’s Perspective: Tomoe’s Take on the Screen Protector

Tomoe was pulled into this review as she had her hands on the Switch 2 earlier, being a mother to a 16yo gamer. As the DRN team are all technically proficient, it was nice to get the product out to the average end user for their feedback.

As a final product, the screen protector works really well. Optics is nice and clear and it is hard to tell that it has been applied.

For the uninitiated, she thought the Ikea-sque instructions were not quite as user friendly for certain demographics. Her suggestion was a QR code with a link to a YouTube video for those who would prefer a bit more clearer instructions on how to apply the screen protector.

Belkin Gaming Travel Case: The Lightweight Everyday Essential

The Gaming Travel Case is the simpler of the two. For many people, it will be all they need.

It is a compact, lightweight case designed to hold your Nintendo Switch 2, up to twelve game cards, a charging cable, and Joy-Con rails. Despite its slim profile, it feels reassuringly solid in the hand. No flimsiness here.

Belkin uses a durable, abrasion- and water-resistant polyester exterior that feels premium and resists scuffing, light moisture, and everyday travel wear. It offers the kind of protection you want when your Switch is being carried in a backpack, gym bag, or car, with or without other gear pressing up against it.

Beneath that outer fabric is a dense internal padding layer that gives the case its structure. It is firm enough to prevent the case from collapsing under pressure, yet flexible enough that it never feels bulky. This padding also adds a second layer of shock absorption for the kinds of minor drops and knocks that realistically happen on the move. Reinforced stitching around the edges and hinge helps the case maintain its shape over time, even with frequent use.

Inside, Belkin has lined the case with a soft brushed-velvet interior, protecting the Switch 2’s screen and chassis from scratches when sliding it in and out. It is a small detail, but one that matters.

Storage is well thought out. There is a twelve game-card flap, a mesh accessory pocket for items such as a charging cable or cleaning cloth, and a hidden AirTag pocket. A genuinely useful touch if you want a little extra peace of mind while travelling.

In everyday use, the Gaming Travel Case strikes an excellent balance between protection and portability. It is light enough to forget about once packed, but structured enough that you are never worried about pressure from laptops, books, or chargers sharing the same bag.

Belkin Charging Travel Case: The Ultimate Long-Haul Companion

The Charging Travel Case builds on everything that works about the Gaming Travel Case and adds one key feature, on-the-go charging.

Material-wise, the two cases are nearly identical. You get the same abrasion-resistant polyester exterior, internal padding, reinforced stitching, and soft velvet lining. Where the Charging Case differs is in its internal layout, which is designed to securely house a removable power bank. The internal moldings also feature a neat groove allowing your Switch 2 to sit securely with the kickstand extended, while charging in tabletop mode.

Belkin includes a dedicated battery cradle and a cable guide that keeps the 20cm USB-C cable neatly routed and securely connected to the Switch 2. Everything stays in place during transport, without loose cables pressing against the console. In use, it feels well thought out.

The included 10K battery is capable of charging the Nintendo Switch 2 up to 1.5 times. In real-world terms, that translates to roughly 2.5 to 6.5 additional hours of gameplay, depending on the game you are playing and your settings. Enough to comfortably get you through a long trip, or at least avoid cutting a session short.

There is a trade-off in weight. With the battery installed, the Charging Travel Case is noticeably heavier than the standard Gaming Travel Case. That said, it is still perfectly manageable in a backpack or carry-on, and the added weight feels justified if you regularly game in handheld mode away from power.

The case allows you to charge the Switch 2 while it remains seated securely inside, though you will need to remove it to actively play. This helps manage heat and keeps the case’s protective structure intact. Smart design choices all round.

Belkin Power Bank 20K for Switch 2: High-Capacity Performance [input from Tomoe]

The Power Bank has a capacity of 20K, which is rated to charge up your Switch 2 up just under four times.

A key feature of the Power Bank is the integrated charging cable, which means you won’t ever run in the situation where you remembered to bring everything but the cable.

In addition, it has a USB-A port rated for 18W, and a USB-C port rated for 30W output.

Recharging is at 30W which means a recharge from empty will take about three hours.

During a recharge of the Switch 2, the battery remained relatively cool which is a good thing – you can keep gaming without oven mitts on.

The only main gripe here is that the cable is only 12 cm long, which is roughly the long side of the power bank.

Travel Considerations: Taking Your Switch 2 on a Plane

Because the Charging Travel Case includes a built-in power bank, it falls under standard airline lithium battery regulations. This means it must be carried in cabin luggage and cannot be placed in checked baggage. The good news is that the 10,000mAh battery sits well below airline capacity limits and is permitted on flights. It is simply something to keep in mind when packing, particularly if you are used to checking your console bag.

Final Verdict: Which Belkin Accessories Should You Buy?

To start with, the Tempered Glass Anti-Reflective Screen Protector is a non-negotiable in my opinion. At an RRP of $24.95 AUD, it is a no-brainer way to protect the Switch 2’s most vulnerable surface and help extend the life of your investment.

The TemperedGlass Blue Light Filter Screen Protector has a slightly higher RRP of $29.95.

The Power Bank 20K (30W) for Nintendo Switch 2 has a RRP of $99.95.

When it comes to cases, the decision ultimately boils down to how you plan to use your Switch 2.

If you want the lightest and most compact way to protect your Nintendo Switch 2, the Gaming Travel Case is an easy recommendation. It is well built, thoughtfully designed, and ideal for commuting, school bags, and everyday travel. Priced at $29.95 AUD, it is relatively inexpensive insurance for a console that is far from cheap to replace.

If you regularly game on long trips, including flights, road trips, or extended periods away from a power outlet, the Charging Travel Case earns its extra bulk. The ability to recharge the Switch 2 up to 1.5 times without unpacking anything is a genuine convenience and can be the difference between cutting a session short and keeping the game going. At $99.95 AUD, the extra spend may be worth it if charging on the move is something you know you will use.

Both cases deliver solid protection, smart organisation, and the kind of practical design Belkin is known for. The choice ultimately comes down to whether built-in charging is a feature you will actually take advantage of.

DRN wishes to thank Belkin for providing these Nintendo Switch Accessories to review.
