Guaranteed to light up your life, and your outdoor entertainment area, the 15 meter expanse of 15 LED Festoon styled lights packs a powerful punch when it comes to mood lighting. Powered by a 2w Solar Panel, the addition of 8 modes of ambient lighting can withstand any weather extremes with a waterproof rating of IP65 and shatterproof bulbs.
Light in the 21st Century is something we take for granted. It’s just there, no questions asked. Not that I’m that old, but there was a time with people were tasked with lighting the lamps by hand across towns… try explaining that to kids these days! But now, as society becomes more socially aware and environmentally conscious, solar power has proven to be the winner when it comes to powering everything from houses, ornaments and garden lights. So I’m really happy to review the Quntis Premium Quality LED Solar String Lights, because it’s a gentle way to create something I need with no harm to our wonderful world. Right, let’s go!

What’s in the Box
- 15m LED Solar String Lights
- Spares: Spare bulb, spare external plastic surround, spare clips.
- Zip ties
- Clip for Solar Panel
- Stake for Solar Panel
- Solar Panel
- USB cord for powering lights (alternative power source)
- Metal hanging clips for each light
The inclusion of zip ties and clips to assist with lighting placement was extremely well thought out, and caters for all manner of hanging options. It was very and I was able to re-use the zip ties a couple of time when I moved the lights to a more suitable position.

Installation
Installation was straightforward. Decide on your method of hanging, clip or zip tie everything on, and voila, you’re done. But be warned, the light string is LONG. So long that I decided to remove them from where my husband had initially installed them, i.e. the front of our house, to the back deck. There were many sighs from him but ultimately, resignation as I contemplated correct positioning of the bulbs. Due to our open deck set up, I can’t really string them across at this time, but do plan to move them in the near future.
Installation help comes with the minimalist manual and on the box itself. It walks you through connecting the plug, stringing the lights with caution, and selecting the lighting modes. The fact that the setup offers 8 modes is a fun bonus: options like steady, fade, twinkle, etc., allowing you to tailor the ambience to your needs.
Outdoor Performance and Weather Resistance
Rated IP65 Weatherproof and Shatterproof, in my testing (including light rain and dew overnight) they performed without failure. That said, they’re probably more “weather-resistant” than truly “submersible. We did receive sleet and the lights did not miss a beat. The bulbs are encased in a combination of standard glass and PC plastic housing which serves to enhance durability and safety.
In our diverse Australian conditions, humidity, sun exposure, occasional storms, etc, the plastic bulbs showed no sign of cracking or yellowing during my test period (several weeks) – this is encouraging. Still, over many months or years, I’d keep an eye on UV damage or fading, which tends to affect plastic. There’s one spare bulb and plastic exterior provided to replace any broken filament or cracked bulb if required. I took heart that supplying only one means many moons of longevity. Whether it’s wind, rain, or humidity, the Quntis lights are engineered to shine through it all.

Brightness
I’m very impressed with the brightness of the lights. I was informed by my family and neighbours that they could see them twinkling when driving down the hill behind our home – a distance of around 750m. You can see from this little movie how much the lights glow up in one of the lighting cycles:
The colour temperature leans towards warm, and is really inviting as the night progresses. Because yes, the lights self regulate and turn on at dusk and off at dawn.
Can you read by the lights? Look, at a stretch, but I wouldn’t rely on them, plus think of the eye strain. They’d be great for camping too, providing marquee and/or tent lighting for a large area. Again, not overly bright light, but more than enough to take the edge off the darkness.
Build and Quality
The lights and cable are very sturdy and up to task. In the past several weeks they’ve been installed, there’s been no noticeable issues with the cabling joining all lights, and the light bulbs soldier on despite their placement in an exposed part of our deck. I’ve grown quite attached to their ambient light – it has certainly given our back deck area a lovely welcoming glow.

Dual Power Options: Solar & USB-C
One of the standout features of these festoon lights is their dual charging capability. The lights can operate for up to 8 hours on a full solar charge, thanks to a 180° adjustable solar panel that maximises sun exposure. For cloudy days or shaded areas, the included USB-C charging option ensures uninterrupted illumination. This flexibility makes them ideal for year-round use, regardless of weather conditions.

Solar Panel Special Mention
To say I’m surprised by the longevity of the charge is an understatement. One night I was up at 4am and couldn’t figure out why there was a bright light on the back deck (forgetting about our LED lights). Lo and behold, it was the extremely strong festoon lights still going strong!
