Sometimes you see a product and you just go, why haven’t anyone done this before? The Roborock H60 Hub Ultra definitely caught my attention.
Your Standard Vacuum Cleaner
I am old enough to have owned and used the vacuum cleaners with wheels that trails behind you whilst you hang onto the flexible hose. Ones that look like Chopper out of Star Wars Rebels, or the low profile mouse droid kind, even the ball type like a Droideka with less ability to blast dust with lasers.
Then there are the stick vacuums that I either have to mount a piece on the wall to hold it and for charging, or sometimes leave under the table because I don’t have the right wall space or didn’t want to drill another set of holes in the wall.
With both kinds of vacuum cleaners, I still have to find a place to put all the accessories when I am not using them.
tl;dr
The Roborock H60 Hub Ultra is a game-changing stick vacuum because it’s the first to feature a self-emptying dock. This means you don’t have to manually empty the dustbin, which is transferred into a 3L bag in the dock. It’s powerful, with 210 AW of suction, and its green LED light on the head makes it easier to spot dust on floors. The vacuum and its accessories all store neatly in the dock, which is a major convenience. While it takes up a bit more space, its ease of use and hygienic design make it a top contender for anyone wanting the power of a stick vac without the hassle of a traditional bagless model.
The Dawn of a New Stick Vacuum Era
At DRN we are familiar with the Roborock robotic vacuum cleaners, we have reviewed a few over the past year and most recently the Saros 10R that made Bucks and his family’s day.
The H60 Hub Ultra is a stick vacuum cleaner …. with self-emptying dock technology. Wait, what did you say? Yep, a stick vacuum with the self-emptying dock technology that has previously been the domain of robovacs.
Along with the stick vacuum and attachments, it comes with one big accessory – the vertical standing self-emptying dock.
Richard Chang, the Founder & CEO of Roborock says, “At Roborock, we believe that smart cleaning should be seamless and fit effortlessly into everyday life. With the H60 Hub Ultra,
we’re combining flagship-level power with the convenience of automatic dust disposal, so Australians can spend less time on chores and more time doing what they love. It’s about
delivering a smarter, more hygienic clean without the usual hassle — a vacuum that truly works for you.”
Love at First Sight
Even before the H60 Hub Ultra landed, I knew exactly where I am going to put it in the house.
The dock slots in perfectly between the couch and the wine rack. Out of the way but not so out of the way that makes it inaccessible.,
It is a slick unit with white sides and a gloss black. There is no assembly required, and all you need to do is to peel off the protective film on the gloss black bits – something I am reluctant to do knowing it will both be a fingerprint magnet and attract dust.
Other than the dock, it comes with the
- H60 stick vac (of course)
- telescopic wand
- 2-in-1 cleaning head (crevices and edges)
- multi surface brush
- motorised mini brush
- additional disposable dust bag
Thoughtful design that stands out
The auto-empty dock is tall enough to handle the H60 main vacuum unit with the telescopic pole attached. Not fully extended but at least attached with a head on it.
To dock the H60 back in, you just walk it in holding it normally in the position you would in action, and sit it into the cradle. There is no need to do any funky hand swap and switcheroo to turn the unit facing the other way. Just walk it straight in and dock it.
Popping the panel off the side of the auto-empty dock, you will find the 3L disposable dust bag. Next to it is the storage compartments for the 2-in-1 cleaning head and the motorised mini brush.
Everything in the same place for absolute ease of convenience. No more running off to find where I stashed the accessories. There is enough space next to the dust bag to stash the spare too.
Lights (Green), camera (well no), action!
The H60 comes with 210AW (air watts) of suction power. That puts it in the upper reaches of what is considered to be good suction power.
To put it into perspective, 120AW is considered a basic standard to clean mites, most dust accumulation and small particles of food residues.
My previous incumbent was rated for 160AW. The H60 just bested it by another 50AW. It is by far the most powerful vacuum clean to ever grace my place. Other than how badly I suck at many things.
The H60 sports a 140° wide-angle green LED for dust detection.
Why green? A light is a light right? A bit of research and reading brings back some high school lessons. The human eye is most sensitive to the colour green – in that green light creates a higher contrast.
Same reason cars historically used green lighting for the instrument cluster because it’s the colour that is easiest for the human eye to see and interpret at a low light level.
In this scenario, due to the higher contrast, green makes it easier to see fine, or normally invisible dust and particles against the floor surface. It also provides a stark contrast against most floor colours. Conversely, a white light especially on a lighter floor can make it harder for dust particles to show up.
But it’s not all about colours. The angle of illumination is critical. A light source close to the ground causes dust particles to cast long shadows, and improving the visibility.
My previous unit was the first time I had a LED on the motorised head, and it was brutal in showing up the dust and pet fur on the hardwood flooring. The green LED on the H60 is going to fuel my nightmares.
If I thought the white LED on my previous unit was showing up dust and cat fur on the floor, the green LED was giving me nightmares. The amount of things that was showing up, even though I had run over the same area the day before with the other unit, was just eye opening.
To be fair, it is most likely the combination of the colour and the angle of the light. It was certainly effective in close quarter combat with dust.
Helpfully, the H60 can effectively lie flat and and reach deep into hard to get places. There is a clearance required but it does a pretty good job under my cabinets.
The H60 Hub Ultra has a rated battery life of 90 minutes. which is more than enough for me to run over the house in some detail.
Operation is as simple as it gets, on the round LED screen are two buttons – power and suction.
The left button toggles power on and off, the right button cycles through the suction power, from low, med to high.
On the LED screen, the numbers show the percentage battery remaining. The increasing number of “blades” around it indicates the suction power – if the increasing sound has not clued you in already.
For what it can deliver, the H60 weights in at about 1.7kg which I find to be light enough for extended use and easy to manoeuvre.
The motorised heads features a curved shark-tooth design and fibre-rubber roller to actively prevent hair wrap. With two ladies in the house, there is always plenty of long hair around. The heads never failed during use, except when it tried to eat a piece of paper. That necessitated a rescue.
It was simple to extract the stuck paper though. I pulled the bulk of it through the roller, then I just unlocked the head from the side and removed the roller itself. It took no time to do and I was back doing my best Sade the Cleaning Lady impersonation.
When you are done, or taking a break, you can walk it into the auto-empty dock. The dock is at 848mm high, and designed to allow the user to place the vacuum in without having to lift it up high.
As soon as the H60 is docked, the ten seconds auto-empty cycle is triggered. Recharging also kicks in automatically.
A Thoughtful and Hygienic Experience
I have never been a fan of bagless vacuums, despite having owned a few. It is just so nasty to dump the debris straight into the bin, and the inevitable cloud of dust that hangs in the air and coating every surface in the vicinity.
The H60 Hub Ultra’s dock transfers the debris out of the H60 and into a 3L sealed dust bag in the dock. Roborock claims it can hold up to 100 days worth of dirt, but your mileage will vary.
The dust bags are designed to trap 99% of bacteria, to help keep dust and allergens securely contained.
Inside the H60 vacuum is a 5-stage filtration system including a HEPA filter. Suction is generated and maintained by a 9-cyclone separation system.
The dust canister along with all the parts of the filters can be disassembled and washed under the tap.
Is there anything I don’t like?
Not a lot really.
My review unit came with a Chinese two prong plug rather than an Australian one. But it was also a pre-launch unit that was shipped directly from China so I will give it a pass.
The ease of docking the H60 creates a bigger footprint, as the bulky part of the handle stick out away from the auto-empty dock. But to turn it around so the bulk is over the dock itself would require some some awkward turning around of the H60 at time of docking.
The Final Verdict
As I said at the start, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra was love at first sight.
It is simultaneously more powerful and quieter to operate than my previous unit at low to medium suction power. I love that the dust bin is auto emptied into the dock, because as teenagers do, they absolutely will not even realise when it is full in the first place. The emptying process is not excessively loud either.
With the H60 Hub Ultra, this job is taken care of every time, without fuss – as long as the H60 is returned to base. And at the height the dock is set to, it takes no effort to do.
The Roborock H60 Hub Ultra is the top of the line in the family of three, available starting today 28 August 2025 with RRP A$999.
There is also a H60 Hub Pro with 170AW suction power and 80 minutes run time, and the H60 Hub base model at 115AW and 60 minutes run time.
DRN would like to thank Roborock for providing the review unit ahead of the formal launch. This one’s a beauty.
This one gets the DRN Pulse Award from me, congratulations Roborock!
