A Real-World Test in a Real Messy Home
Earlier this year Sime reviewed the Tineco Pure One A30S and gave it a glowing write-up. As Grand Poobah of DRN, I trust my editors implicitly but this time I had to verify for myself. And yes, Sime… solid call.
Our household is held together by caffeine, momentum and a rotating crew of three kids and two cats. Between toys, spilled snacks and furballs, it is the kind of place that can undo a clean floor in under 30 seconds.
I already use a robovac, a Tineco S6 FlashDry and a handheld vac for spot jobs. So where does the A30S fit in?
First Impressions: What’s in the Box?
Tineco built the A30S with affordability in mind and the packaging reflects that. It’s a lean, no-nonsense kit that covers the essentials:
- Main motor unit
- Extension tube
- 2-in-1 crevice tool with slide-down brush
- ZeroTangle Power Brush head
- Wall mount bracket
- Battery and DC barrel charger
It is light on the extras, but what you do get is cleverly designed and useful.
Using the A30S: Everyday Hero
The A30S is perfect for the kind of messes that make me groan just thinking about dragging the robovac out again.
Sometimes there is too much floor clutter. Sometimes a kid is mid-play and the robot would just add chaos. That’s when the A30S shines.
It is is portable, maneuverable and ready to do my bidding, with me at the helm. I can sweep through the living room, kitchen and hallway in a quick pass without moving half the furniture first.
Smarter Than You Think
The A30S features Tineco’s iLoop Smart Sensor Technology, which detects how dirty the floor is and adjusts suction accordingly. A coloured LED strip next to the power button shifts from blue (clean) to red (filthy). It’s basically a traffic light for your floors—and a reality check for what you thought was clean.
It is oddly satisfying, and slightly horrifying, to see the light go full Sith-red and hear the motor ramp up just from one quick sweep over what looked fine.
The Power Brush That Pulls No Punches
The ZeroTangle Power Brush lives up to the name. It has three bright LEDs at the front which reveal the dust you didn’t want to know was there, especially on hardwood floors.
In one session I picked up a rogue ribbon off the floor. The brush made an angry gurgle but kept going without missing a beat. The ribbon wrapped itself around the roller, but didn’t stop it spinning. I removed it easily at the end, no scissors and no drama.
Despite two long-haired princesses in the house, I found almost no hair tangled around the brush. A few jewellery threads from my partner’s workspace, sure, but even those didn’t jam the head. Pulling them off was a cinch.
Battery Life: Manage Your Expectations
Tineco claims up to 60 minutes on a single charge. You will only see that if your house is already clean and the vacuum never has to work too hard.
In my real-world run post-dinner, a quick maintenance sweep of most of the house took me about half an hour and the A30S was still going strong. I covered all the main areas, the master bedroom and angry Sith aside, the Tineco kept on going.
The kids’ rooms? They’re old enough to handle that mess themselves.
Extra Features That Matter
Lays Flat for Under-Furniture Cleaning: The A30S can lie almost completely flat. As long as there’s enough clearance for the brush head, you can easily clean under sofas, beds, and cabinets.
LED Headlights: The trio of LEDs on the brush head makes dust and crumbs stand out clearly. It is a small feature that makes a big difference.
5-Stage Filtration: Inside a HEPA filter captures up to 99.6% of dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. Air is expelled through a rear vent near the handle and it is strong enough to ruffle loose paper if you are not careful.
Washable Filter: Basic maintenance is dead easy. Rinse the filter in cold water, let it dry, and pop it back in.
Easy Emptying: Just open the trap door on the dustbin and everything falls out.
Weight: At 4.6kg, the A30S isn’t featherlight, but in hand, it feels well-balanced and manageable.
What Could Be Better?
Only one gripe and it’s not a deal-breaker.
The ZeroTangle Power Brush is loud. Not jet-engine loud but noticeable. It is on par with other vacs in its class, just something to note if noise is a factor for you.
Final Verdict
At A$319, the Tineco Pure One A30S offers serious bang for buck.
It is much more than just a sidekick to a robovac, it is fully capable of being your primary vacuum. If you don’t already have a cleaning arsenal like mine, the A30S will happily shoulder the full load on its own.
It is simple, smart, and seriously efficient. I can see why Sime was thinking of getting a second one.
