Did you know that humanity is projected to take 2.1 TRILLION photos in 2025? According to statistics, some 61,400 photos are taken PER SECOND. I found this out when I covered for World Photography Day 2025.
With smartphones accounting for 94% of photos taken in 2024, mobile photography is here to stay. Each year, technology make incremental improvements to the hardware. Computational photography gets a little better.
But if you really want to push the boundaries, do something different, then you need to change the hardware. I don’t mean taking your phone apart and swapping modules. I am talking about adding something like a Sandmarc Hybrid ND/PL Filter.
You might ask, WTH is that? It is a Neutral Density, Polarising filter.
Neutral Density filters are used to reduce the amount of light being captured by your camera sensor. Polarising filters works it’s magic by reducing reflection and popping colours. This is the simple way of explaining it.
By why am I telling you this, when we have a professional movie maker who teaches this stuff who will not only explain it better, but show you how it works in action?
The Sandmarc Hybrid ND/PL Filter has a RRP of US$129.99, and is available from their website.
DRN would like to thank Sandmarc for providing the review unit.
