We spent 13 days with HP’s new ZBook Ultra 14″ G1a mobile workstation laptop — and not just running benchmarks and skimming spec sheets. Chris and I used it the way we actually work: editing videos, testing AI tools, gaming when we should be studying, and lugging it around town. HP calls it an ‘ultra’ workstation, so we wanted to see how far that really goes. It’s not trying to be the lightest or sleekest (probably can’t be, with the processing power it’s packing), but it is built to be fast, reliable and ready for real work. So after nearly two weeks with it, here’s what held up, what didn’t and who we think this machine is really for.

We would like to thank HP for loaning this unit for review.
